Ja, first timer up there...Garmin got 45% incline!!! not sure how accurate that is but it felt like it!!!..met a guy walking down that section who said you taking the hard route...I was semi-conscious at the time and only realised the impact of his assessment of my madness when I got to the top and found myself off course! Going right at that small bunch of trees just made no sense to me...at the time....

The green arrow (right at the trees, then up the switchbacks) is much more pleasant (done it a few times on my gravel bike)

it was entirely not unpleasant this morning, even though the entire ride was done before the sun climbed up to the horizon. I actually over dressed expecting a rather chilly ride.

I'm hoping for the same on Saturday; it's Giro time.

Have a tradition every May, where I wear the fan's version of the Maglia Rosa. I bought it at the Giro in 2010 (it started in Amsterdam that year, and I was there).  Would be horrible to have to wear a winter jacket over the shirt through winter.

Ironic that I'm back in Amsterdam on Monday morning; 12 years later. Need to find another souvenir, like perhaps an orange-coloured shirt. I know @Underachiever would like one.

Last year - wasn't that cold if we're all wearing shorts and sleeves. 

2016 - also not too chilly that day.


2014 - was also a warm May that year.
