Old Green Monster Hercules took D to campus today..........and promptly had a rear tyre explode, I suppose it was the shock of finding itself at UCT. The last time it took Ds grandfather to class, it was at Stellies, in the late 1950s, Poor thing, I would have blown a tyre too! D also discovered that those old rod-pull brakes don't slow you down in the least when it rains. So, he learnt what it feels like to get wet and walk home. Boy is getting to be a tough man!   :)

I suppose the fact that it is so beautiful will have to justify its existence. It is the original that came with the bike in the late 1920s. :)

On the other hand, it works better than the brakes, making a good bit of noise. The brakes don't even screech to warn pedestrians. It can also be argued that in the wet, ringing the bell is an equally effective way to slow down, compared to using the brakes. Both have about the same effect on your speed.  :D

That bike is a terrifying thing to ride, both up and down a hill.

I did a relaxed solo spin to Cape Town and a bit of the Atlantic. I poked my nose into all kinds of interesting alleyways and found this colourful "Cape" Rhino at the Waterfront.

Hoe weet jy dit is 'n Kaapse Renoster? ????[emoji6]
