Where has your bike taken you today?

So my laaitie arrives from work at 7 last night and out of the blue says 'come dad lets go take a spin through Rietvlei'

 

No charged batteries and one light that's actually one of those used 'to be seen' rather than 'to see' but we just went anyway. What a blast, some close calls but also managed better than I thought!

More of a personal journey post on where my bike has taken me than an actual destination, got a bit of a mental block on modderfontein as the first time some mates and I rocked up there I really thought I was going to need a helivac (back in April)

 

I measure my times in terms of total time, including all the rest breaks and times I need to walk my bike, and Yeah

I know still freakin' slow but since June, I've shaved over an hour over my last time, and increased my top speed by about 12km/hr. Slowly getting braver to release my brakes more, just need to get up those hills

 

Oh and tx for all the chirps and offers for assistance from others coming past

First pic is on one of the local dirt roads, we had a lot of rainfall last Thursday night (a local farmer told me they had around 110mm in 20 or so minutes) and it was the first real rain of the season. As the ground was so dry most of the water just became a torrential flood and took its anger out on some of the local roads. The pic doesnt show it very well but most of the road is now washed away! I wonder how long this will take to fix! And at least I doscovered the leaks in our new house!

 

Second pic is heading back towards Magalies. A nice leisurely ride on a Friday afternoon!

Here is Susan, she is a regular visitor this time of year bringing tourists into Magalies for a few hours before returning to JHB. This was on Saturday afternoon down at the train station. There are plans to make the station more attractive and benefical to Magalies so lets hope that happens in the future as currently its a bit manky down there and prehaps not the best impression to give to a tourist coming to town!
