Not quite following, I don't see the issue, the ladies in 1A and 1B that rode similar fast times were also being pulled by "male" bunches, seriously doubt any of them were doing pulls up front. A lady who wants to be eligible for a prize including age cats need to do the 78km race, any position in the 109 race for them is just a virtual noddy badge anyway. I think its pretty cool bragging rights for the 10 ladies who managed to do a sub 3, very rare achievement for amateur ladies.

Not disagreeing with the overall point.

But there was a lady in 1A who I believe won her age cat according to her strava. She bailed me twice when it got really hot.

She helped me get back to the bunch coming down chappies (after almost being taken out by some wanker who was dive bombing us through all the corners).  The same lady helped me bridge back to the bunch coming down Suikerbossie.

I think in this case she earned the glory. I also didnt do a single pull in the front but I am telling anyone who will listen about what time I did.

Claims in strava titles - the only things worth less than crowns awarded on strava...

I know you were saying positives about this rider, just saw an opportunity

That lady took me to the promised land. No slander against her will be tolerated!

Ps.

I just checked, she actually did win her age cat.

Some quick result stalking shows the lady from 1D finished 92 overall (out of 485 finishers) at the Attakwas Extreme, riding in the Elite ladies category.

Hi all

Here's my stats from the weekend. I don't have a powermeter, so these figures are from Strava. I managed to finish with 2h49

1C

93kg

NP ???

Edinburg 1.72km 5.5% │ 422w 4:42

Smits last 1.65km 5.5% │ 331w 4:37

Little Chappies 1.42km 4.1% │ 399w 3:24

Big Chappies 1.72km 4.8% │ 381w 4:46

Small Suikerbossie 0.62km 4.7% │ 436w 1:28

Big Suikerbossie 1.86km 6.7% │ 375w 5:59

PS: also sat on the wheel of the guy from 1D, but lost him when we hit Chappies as we had merged with 1B and things were a bit chaotic from there.

I don't think the age cat thing is ever an actual "race".

You can start 1A, but it's no guarantee you're in the best group.

in this case, this is the 1D who wheelsucked off Dean Hopf all the way to a 2:47.. unless she was holding onto his jersey pocket, she earned it just as much as anyone else in 1A. The real race for ladies starts in fish hoek.

enough of that though, check these oupas hammering it like the Blitz is coming

Which then talks to seeding being a problem …..

I saw Linus en-route (same start group). Had 34 (or 35, I can't remember) previously completed tours (it was on his race number). Insane!

What I want to know is where were all these low seeded elites and unrestricted ebikes and other ne'er-do-wells when I needed a tow past Cape Point to Misty cliffs? - even a tandem would have been lekker.

Nothing, ... nada .... just me and skinny 1B rider who couldn't do a turn and wouldn't have offered much of a draft he had been able to.

that like me between fish hoek and simons town. Nobody in site front or rear, I had to remind myself I was doing "The August" because there was no sign that it was a race day.

I'm used to starting further back, where you are either passing someone, or someone is passing you or both.

It gets lonely in no mans land when you make your way up the start order...

Too soon to ask when the seedings will be updated?

They are slow this year! By Tuesday last year, I had already entered for the 2025 event! They are slipping!
