With a litle bit of research on the internet (about 4min worth), of public available information on social media pages, it doesnt take a person long to figure out that he is also connected to this hub member (granted, there was only one post from her).

It turns out to be an advert looking for volunteers posted by his wife. And a little more research shows the same request for volenteers for the W2W in 2023. I also assume its her MountainMerchant page that was listing the epic entry as there is a direct connection on facebook to the ultramtb website that defrauded the poster belinda out of her hard earned beer coupons

I wonder perhaps, if Mrs is blisfully unaware or if Stellenbosch University even knows?

Happy friday Taun

Initially spoke to Mike Walters ( I now suspect he same guy because he has disappeared, Taun says he doesn't work there anymore!)The night before event I was told there had been a fire of the logistics and support team business premises and was too late to get replacement caterers and back up vehicle (long mail with sad details of fire and vehicle damage etc). Was offered new date April which I can't make. Still waiting for other dates that he promised. Then I started asking for refund which was promised no problem, repeatedly. This been going in for weeks, then last week received fraudulent pop. Which has instigated a fraud case at the bank as well as police case opened. This afternoon I video called him because he sent me a long mail with promises to pay back the money end march. Wanting me to sign stuff. I asked about all the details of fire, names  of other riders, other dates April ride I don't believe exists. I asked about the Epic because I saw he is supposedly riding to raise funds for Springboks playersfund for injured rugby players, he said they have got wind if his past and withdrawn his complimentary Epic entry because don't want to be associated with him.

He now sending me threatening mails and WhatsApps if I don't remove Facebook posts. All feels a bit surreal! I think he is a shameless bullying psychopath and any suggestions how to stop this happening again to other riders will be appreciated. I have contacted everyone that liked any of his Facebook posts to inform them. I haven't found anyone yet who was scammed for the Feb Cederberg event, yes was R8325 . I think I got off lightly!

Do the right thing. Go lay a charge of harrasment against him at your nearest female friendly cop shop. While you are there, lay a charge of fraud against him too. If you have a lawyer that is close to you, take him/her with you to the cop shop to help get the docket right and to speed things up.

You seem very traumatized by this matter, and gender based harassment doesnt go down well.

Take ALL the evidence with you, including his published addresses, mobile numbers and assocoates details (what friends you can trace on line, family included). Hand it all to the cops that dont take gender issues lightly.

Its the right thing to do

We’ve not received a case number regarding his criminal harassment case at SAPS.

Regardless, we do ask that discussion remains factual and constructive.

Seems pretty factual and constructive to me so far. Lots of mitigating facts (which is widely available on social media and the www) pointing to one individual that is upset because he's been exposed and caught out, again.

Shame, poor him.

Matt is right and he is doing his job mate.. let’s not put the Hub at any further risk please until they have clarity on the matter..

let’s just leave it now I think.. this could get serious and I like the Hub the way it is..🥳

I hear what you're saying Mike

All the cases against him should be tabled together. It'll help fight the cause

Dont let the school yard bully win

It should be a more efficient system of linking cases by similar key credentials of the case and assigning one warrant officer to take care of.. but like I’ve just experienced, it isn’t.. you have to be proactive about it to get them to do their jobs properly.. its really sad

Why not do a community service and let the case proceed? At the same time collate all that have a legitimate fraud case against him.

Should he want his day in court, proceed with laying a class action of all that come forward, as he will need to be present for the case. Further you could ask the court and even a lawyer to serve a summons in person for all the fraud as he will be there

You allow him to have profiles on bikehub hub and I would not be surprised that he has conned people via bikehub.

And, the way I see it, he has used his usual strong arm tactic of threatening and you have ultimately backed down, by removing posts. Rather than contacting the poster of these posts and asking if the information stated is factual or hearsay, and can they standby their post. Else to remove it.

We all know his standard MO, is to threaten, but will not follow through, as it opens him to counter legal action!

Edit, I believe there are a few lawyers here who am sure would happly send a reply and that would likely be the end of a threatened case.
