It was indeed underwhelming, but in all honesty has been for a while. A ton of sun screen and other skin products and hardly a good deal to be found.

Even the clothing brands were asking full price.

Is the cost to have a stand a factor in the limited stands and deals?

Kind of sad as it is a big event, considering what has been on offer in the Good Hope Centre days.

Curious if anyone knows of a record book of sorts for the more “fun” categories?

Things like fastest BMX, steel or aluminum bike, unicycle, tandem or recumbent.
Would be really interesting to see what times people have managed.

It’s interesting that none of the local bike shops bother anymore. There used to be a time where every single bike shop had a stand from Chris Willemse, City Cycles, Crown, Olympic even the ones up in Worcester were there every year.

Did the Expo run yesterday. Parked at P1. The closest one to the stadium. Finished Expo at about 18:00 , got the trainers on and the wife and I went for a run on the Promenade.  Came back at 19:05 to see that there had been broken into our car and her cellphone and bankcards were stolen. Very expensive Argus this one. Be watchfull

Don't know about books of any sort but I do recall that Hendrik Lemmer held the fastest MTB time, not sure if it still is though!

Don't forget the Livestrong bands and that you had to pay a feasible sum for the dubious honor to share a 15 second "audience" on the road with the Uniballer. Lol.

Quite sure some of you fell for this one.

Solomon's used to bring down half their store and still be cheaper! Clearly it just doesn't make sense to do it this way.

If I could've paid to have my number couriered to me, I would have. Almost 3 hours spent driving to and from Cape Town today. 😱 Excluding the (pointless to me) expo where you're forced to walk the entire thing.

Hoping to spend less time cycling on Sunday. 😜

I try to convince myself that the income the cycle tour generates from the expo helps to keep the event viable and somewhat affordable so I'm performing my good deed of the day by walking through the expo, but yes its a mighty schlepp 🤣

That was on the old route. New record on 109km is held by Gavin Ryan, a saffa living in UK.

I've been saying that this event has been on the slide for many years but it was almost a criminal act to do that a few years ago. (Similar to disagreeing with the initial ANC governing days). It's just an opinion guys.
