yeh apparently there was a 3rd a lady was robbed as well... we passed through just after 6 am. i reported it, the ticket was closed and got "it was handed over to metro police and saps". we saw about 5-7 guys hanging out in this area, and you could see it was an incident waiting to happen

That Church Street bridge to the N1 is unrideable at the moment
A friend was thrown off her bike and robbed at 9:30 last Saturday.
Some other friends had a guy chase them after they went down the pedestrian ramp to the bus lane to ride to Milnerton.
So, its troll on top and under the bridge.

this just pisses me off - I ride the town route almost every weekend - usually we come from Chappies side - so get there around 10h00-ish when roads are a bit busier

Opportunists lurking all day long it seems.

Busier roads don't seem to deter them.

yeah **** it it's not worth it, I'll just be riding towards malmesbury from now on

I've also been doing this but from the southern suburbs it's not easy - the 2 viable routes out north involve tackling either the Koeberg interchange (M5 and N1 from Voortrekker road) or through Pinelands and then negotiating the bridge at Vanguard. Neither one is safe from a crime and car perspective - then there's getting back to the south and timing that.

It's a problem.

come through passed the now cleaned (cleaning) up castle. we have the same issue like you...

not lekka, and it seems to be more prominent now as the off ramp is still closed from cars coming off and getting on the n1 (outbound)

...i'm extremely frustrated as these incidents could of been avoided, had there really been a follow up by law enforcement

Its not just cyclists, ive sat there in traffic watching how they mug ‘working class’ pedestrians getting off at the my city station. People are so oblivious, they literally just walk up to them and take their phones out their hand because they are glued to their screens. Also, that bridge is not just s problem now…its been a problem since pre-covid years. Its dodge as hell due to the many escape routes. With the increase in vagrants it’s just become worse.
