Fat fish Posted April 17, 2016 Share If you ride a specialized, you might as well buy a Merida. They own more then 50% of specialized and frames gets made at the Taiwan factory of Merida. I reasonly had an issue with them and was very unhappy with the service and the product itself. In 16.11.2012 I bought a Specialized Tarmac pro frame and paid R23 000.00 for the it. With in a year I notice a small bump on the rear stay close to the derailler. I did not send it specialized, thinking it's nothing big. After 2 half years i notice the bump is getting bigger. The bike shop that I bought the frame from send it way to the head office and the assessment was that the area where the carbon and the aluminum joint is corroding. They declined replacing the frame as corrosion was not part of the the warranty and the paint warranty was only valued for 2 years. I have ask them how it can be possible that within in 2 year corrosion is taking place as the bike a standing in a room. They still refused to replace the frame. Can any one help and advise what can I do, as Specialized broken my confidence in there product. I never use to have this problem with my Giant and Trek frame and here I have tried one of the biggest brands in the cycling market and got disappointed. Every one that I have spoken confirmed that they should've replace the frame, but at the end of the day my mind is made up. I'm never buying any Specialized products and will not advise anyone to support them. I have realised that the product is over price and there is much better product on the market that offers value for your money.
Butterbean Posted April 17, 2016 Share Hang on a tick. You waited to report a failure, and therefore went beyond the time alloted to use the warrantee. I don't see why you expect them to now break their own rules, which you should have been well aware of, to accommodate you. You went and spent over 20k on a frame and when something wasn't right, you didn't think to immediately go and get it sorted out? Come on. I think you'll find the same thing with any other brand. Go beyond the warrantee and you lose it. Hopefully you find a brand who suits your needs, but I really don't think the fault lies with specialised. I've had warantee claims with them and they have been particularly helpful and speedy. However, I brought these things to their attention within the alloted time. 'Dale Posted April 17, 2016 Share When you saw the small bump, you neglected to act and send it to the lbsThat was failure on your part, man It seems, with limited info, that the brand did honour it's warranty agreements with you as customer nonky

Ham Posted April 17, 2016 Share Firstly most bikes are made in Taiwan, it's the R&D that goes into them that makes the difference. I have had nothing but outstanding service from Spez. May I suggest if you have an issue with them, call them direct and speak to someone before you decide to slate the product. Also keep in mind if you have left a problem for months or years without reporting it, you may have to accept some responsibility for the issue. Iceman. Posted April 18, 2016 Share I feel your pain man. Yes, you didn't act swiftly like you should have when you noticed the bump but then again you didn't think much about it. Either way, there shouldn't be corrosion especially that soon. That's a defect and I think that they should accommodate you somehow. As I said in the other thread, that's unacceptable. I'd be furious if I were you. I think you should put this on the Specialized Twitter and Facebook accounts. Hopefully they will deal with it properly this time around. And if they do, hopefully you won't dislike the brand any longer. Good luck. Pah Bear

Paul Ruinaard Posted April 18, 2016 Share Oh man Monday morning and somebody has been told at the ride on Saturday "Go on the hub, they are a bunch of cyclists and will help you" Any bets as to whether we will get a sixth, seventh or tenth post ? I'm even getting bored with telling these guys to have an honest read in the cold hard light of day the facts of the story they are posting here and expecting the cycling mob to come out bearing pitch forks at dawn and throw Specialized in to the sea to send them all back to their colonial bastions from whence the invaders came bearing faulty gifts.... I think if I was Specialized I would be very happy that an unreasonable twat like you had decided never to buy my product again. nonky, KarlvN, Dieter ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and 6 others

APJ88 Posted April 18, 2016 Share I recently bought a Tarmac from Specialized. Saw a very small knock on the frame (which was alarming) . Took it back the very next day. 5 hours later I received a response saying the small dent is only cosmetic. They are willing to replace bike but assured me it will not cause problems. I then declined and they gave me a 10% discount on the bike. Happy customer. Iwan Kemp, Hairy, nonky and 1 other

KarlvN Posted April 18, 2016 Share If you ride a specialized, you might as well buy a Merida. - Why? do people who ride Giant have to buy Trek? Your logic fails my understanding. I did not send it specialized - You will find that if you "send" it, you will improve your skills... After 2 half years i notice the bump is getting bigger. - As in after 12 months?...also, any woman will tell you that if the "bump is getting bigger" you may want to prioritize having it, i.e. "the bump", inspected. Every one that I have spoken confirmed that they should've replace the frame - "every one I have spoken to confirmed that I was innocent" - as used by Zupta and Pistorius. We all know they are both guilty. That means their advisors are equally as stupid as them. but at the end of the day my mind is made up. I'm never buying any Specialized products - this is probably best, ...for Specialized. arendoog, nonky, Skinnyone and 6 others

The OP neglected to report a fault until after the warranty period expires, but now he is throwing his toys out of his cot because they are sticking to their policy. Warrantees are there to protect the consumer. Warranty T&C are there to protect the supplier from misuse by people who neglect to use or service the product properly.
