Saddle Bags on Road Bikes: cool or uncool?

The day I start worrying what others think of my unshaven legs, saddle bag and what socks I'm wearing is the day i realize cyclists are a bunch fashion prima donna's. If it offends you then either overtake or fall back.

Couldnt agree more. I ride alone alot, I have a Saddle bag which expands to accomodate anything extra I throw in it. Spare tube, patches and CO2. My keys also have to go in there. For long rides, I squeeze in some Gu, chewables and some fizz tabs. All good and sorted.

I have one of those PRO tool Bottles. Got rid of it after one ride. Couldnt stand the sound of stuff banging around on the inside, plus now I can ride with 2 bottles.

Forgot to add, I dont wear those condom type outfits when riding my roadie. I am too old too look like I am preventing impregnation, but still no pockets.

I do also have my Asthma inhaler and some tablets in the bag. I think all of those would fit in the back of a jersey, but then it looks like 2 or 3 large Balls on your back.

I am not here to race, if I was, then the saddle bag would go. I am just here to ride!!! There is no place for fashion when riding.

Actually, that is the main reason I always carry a small saddlebag.

I am allergic to bee stings and go into anaphylactic shock within minutes so I always have my adrenaline with me. Leaving it on the bike means that I don't have to remember it every time and I have needed it six times in the last ten years or so whilst cycling.

hmmm, I went dizzy once from a bee sting a few years ago. Also the only time I got stung. Never bothered to find out if I am dizzy.

@Dale a few pompe too little, no such thing as too much

doesnt really matter, problem is if you want to look like a pro, make sure you can ride the hills like one. or the jokes on you

Doesn't matter? Sounds like you have given up on life!! No wonder you are ok with Giants.

I threw my saddle bag away in the 90's. Pocpac in my jersey or spares bag in my spare cage on short rides. Just as I was coaxing my friend away from a saddle bag he goes and buys a top tube bag.

in the words of Donald Trump.... 'Sad!' { with hand gestures}
