Hairy Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I have helped five non hubbers buy "new" bikes off the hub the past year (Latest one is rocking a lovely blue Giant Trance 29'er that was priced right), and I have built my latest MTB SS off parts from the hub, or people I have met through the hub .... most of my bikes over the last few years have all been built through bike hub purchases. Hairy Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Interesting to hear your take. It's always difficult for us to gauge what's happening on other platforms. From our point of view, we're super happy with the liquidity on the Classifieds this year. The number of adverts placed has been very healthy. While on the flip side of the marketplace, the average life-time of adverts has never been lower, which indicates that for the most part they are selling quickly. So by our measures at least, we believe that it is a highly effective option for selling cycling gear.Except for that one dude trying to sell the 29'er chromo, QR, v-brake straight steerer fork ......... can someone just buy that damned thing already! splat Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Except for that one dude trying to sell the 29'er chromo, QR, v-brake straight steerer fork ......... can someone just buy that damned thing already! It's a 26" fork and has become a bit of a reluctant mascot / lurker on BikeHub classifieds https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-forks/444/mtb-fork-tange-1-chrome-moly-26

dasilvarsa Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 It's becoming difficult to buy on the Hub.People are asking too much for the goods and there is not much choice.Maybe it's a Covid thing...........

Ed-Zulu Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 It's becoming difficult to buy on the Hub.People are asking too much for the goods and there is not much choice.Maybe it's a Covid thing...........I've had the right opposite experience the past 3 monts; two well priced purchases from long time hubbers. crank and gps' units I do play the long game as the king of secon hand goods in my circle of friends Hairy and Kranswurm 2
Hairy Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 I think if your price is right and your product is as describe, it will sell fast. There have been a couple of items that have struck my fancy as of late, I would hit the "heart" icon to keep track of them and all have been sold in a matter of hours or a couple of days.
Jewbacca Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 It's becoming difficult to buy on the Hub.People are asking too much for the goods and there is not much choice.Maybe it's a Covid thing...........I have said it before, the stuff that hangs around on the classifieds is the overpriced or the junk. There is a lot of that currently as demand is high so guys are chancing their arms. Well priced items sell within a matter of hours, so they don't hang around on the classifieds which gives the impression of things 'not moving' as the same ads always seem to be visible. The classifieds is humming, you just have to be super quick on the draw and often, if you aren't hitting refresh while you are supposed to be at work you will probably miss the good stuff. They usually disappear before most had their morning coffee. Vetplant 1
BaGearA Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 Stuff that hanged on here for 2 months got sold within hours on Facebook market place. Best of all here I had lowballers left and right that never followed through while Facebook just needed a location to pick up, no negotiation or anything just a smooth deal. Happened on 3 items this far ChrisF 1
