Interms of seeding, it really seems like dark magic. My Dido Hillclimb in 2017 was used for my seeding. My last 2 events was SCT 2019 and CTCT 2018. Beta for Dido was more than 2 with a penalty of 17 (owing to time) and SCT was 0.9 with penalty of 5. My guess is that race office is looking more at your best result or capability so as to push you up in groups as opposed dropping you to the lower groups because of lack of event participation. This could work both ways where some people are fit enough for their groups but have'nt done any events recently, alternatively you are unfit and seeded in a fast group due to older results. I was expecting a lower group because of SCT time with a mechanical but Im more than happy with seeded group.

you have to admit its probably not the easiest job to get the starting groups right. Especially for events like this where the majority of participants do maybe 1 other event during the year.

I'll take myself as an example. Last 2 events I did was 2018 947 and 2018 CTCT. For the CTCT I rode with my dad and it took us just over 6 hours, the 947 i did on my own, but only started training in September. Since then I've done (by my standards) big mileage and training and will probably be at my fittest ever for the CTCT. But how would the organisers know this without me doing any races to prove it.

I'm so nervous... After taking a few years off to concentrate on being a slow Adventure Racing Donkey I have come out of retirement. My last seeding race was in 2015......

My index is 99.06!

I am pretty nervous as to what I will see in the open batches.... Weaving, walking, vomiting, heart attacks....... I am scared and excited!

surely you got MTB results? might as well try request reseeding.

no one needs a big mouth at the back chirping all the ooms pushing for a sub6

Question:

If you substitute, do you get the seeding of the sub rider or based on your index?

"The substitute participant will be issued a new number in the start group for which he/she qualifies."
