Is it still considered taboo to ride without a mask?

I'm asking because I rode for more than an hour in a busy section of JHB and I thought I missed a news release about the current restrictions when riding.

You are required to wear a mask whenever you are in a public space. Nothing has changed.

Are we still talking laces …….?

If so, the science says you should have two otherwise your one shoe will fall off.

:D  :D

masks we was  talking masks.

Regardless of what everyone else is doing, wear one for your safety.

Either there is a possibility of you getting infected and all the consequences that can possibly have for you and your loved ones - wearing a mask might impact the likelihood of getting infected; or, as its advised by the National Communist Control Committee that you wear one, you get pulled over by a copper with Adolf Cele's iron fist up his arse and you get donnered - wearing a mask my impact the likelihood of that happening.

Ah - the Blocken et al paper again.

https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-the-expert-advice-on-a-recent-study-on-safe-distances-while-running

Is this credible research?

The study, by a team of engineers in Europe, is a pre-print publication, which means it hasn't been peer-reviewed by other scientists and journal editors to check the research methods and findings.

In other words, the quality of the simulation could be anything between flawed and reasonably realistic. Without peer review we cannot know.

The study is also based on a computer simulation, so it's a hypothetical study not involving human participants.

Like any simulation it is based on a long chain of assumptions, such as assumptions relating to specific environmental conditions where jogging takes place. For example, it doesn't take into account any impact from wind.

You must try harder and not post Facebook non peer reviewed technical literature as proof. The modelling they conducted has many many flawed assumptions

of you go to volunteer in the covid wards without a mask then if they not needed...

why are you talking to me like I am retarded ? I said the loops aren't long enough to get in the chain. On the MTB shoes I use that thing to keep the laces out of the way, no need on the road shoes...

Mainly because it looks stupid with the loops of shoelace not tucked away...  :whistling:

Well snitches get stitches so I won't say where this was, but herr Cele's goons would have a battle royale if they knew.

I know for a fact that stops my own micro droplets but I don't know if it is really protecting me. So effectively I am wearing one for the careless bliksems that are not wearing a mask. :cursing:

the problem is that careless bliksem has the same train of thought as you, thats why he doesnt wear his mask.

That's exactly right, we are mostly wearing them to protect the ***** who don't care about others. Masks dont filter the virus (in and out) but they do reduce the amount of droplets that you release in the air, so they reduce the risks of you transmitting the virus to others, but if you ride through a cloud of droplets left by someone else you're going to breathe it in real quick, maybe some will be filtered by your mask, but not much I would say...

Just received 3x ciovita masks https://ciovita.co.za/collections/adult-facemasks/products/multidots-variety-printed-face-mask-3pk-filters-included gonna try em tomorrow morning, see if I can breathe with it, better or worse than with the buff. There is way more filtration material in them so they should be safer, but despite the fact that they have a shape, I'm not very optimistic about the amount of oxygen I'll be able to inhale it it   Let's see tomorrow !
