South Africans are very tri-athlete...... all the gear no idea and super proud and possessive about having XTR over SLX despite being solid mid packers that could comfortably run mid range kit

Never mind, this one is worse!

I was on the receiving end of bike snobbism from some random on a specialized recently and was surprised by the level of ignornance on my poor steel hardtail. Made me upset and sad at the same time as people should be able to enjoy themselves within their means. By all means ride your specialized but don’t complain about the prices being inflated as you choose to buy into the clique.

Pure ignorant snobbery. The only thing that is Specialised is the frame, only one piece of the whole bike, the other 20 bits of the bike are Shimano or something else that are on every other bike. We should really be calling them Shimano or SRAM bikes with an unfortunate Specialised frame. "Unfortunate" because there are stacks of better frames out there.

Sorry to hear that, what an idiot.

Usually we see the abuse going the other way though with the top end bikes riders getting most of the hate.

Just get back at them by dropping them on the climbs and the descents.

Has anyone pointed out that it should say 'ARE second hand prices killing cycling' or 'Is second hand pricing killing cycling'.....

I honestly tried so hard to ignore it. OP? Please....... It's like a 'scab that isn't ready but you pick it anyway' type of feeling every time I read the forums box.

Anyway, as you were

Has anyone pointed out that it should "read" 'ARE....

the text is not "saying" anything

There IS stock. People are just obsessed with having kit that exceeds their ability.

Much the same as school run 4x4s, cupboard bound kitchen aids, grade 5s with top end cricket bats etc....

To 'get into' cycling you can buy one of many less extravagant bicycles, new or used, at a more affordable (read reasonable) price point THAT RELATES to your skill set.

South Africans are very tri-athlete...... all the gear no idea and super proud and possessive about having XTR over SLX despite being solid mid packers that could comfortably run mid range kit..

Excess and a pride of excess in this country still suggests 'class' or social standing, despite it being completely unnecessary 99% of the time

Not everyone.

Some okes do the CTCT on a BMX

I was going to make the same point but a second  large shot of Lagavulin chilled me sufficiently to pretend to ignore it

A mate of mine has a few bikes and saw a wanted advert on a local group so he replied saying that he had what the guy was looking for.He told the guy to make him a offer as he wasn’t sure what the bike was worth.Said buyer offered him €300 more than he paid for the bike 3 years ago.

The buyer had his bike stolen and has a Ironman next month so he was desperate to get a bike.

it’s simple supply and demand and there just isn’t enough stock to go around.

I just ignore people that tell me what I should ride. One of my favorite bikes is my steel Ritchey.I often get told I must ride carbon because it’s the best and lightest but I just smile and say “ok sure”.

I'm in the market for a 2nd hand dual sus. Have been looking at the 2nd hand market, but prices are too high for me, considering value and components.

I've contacted Titan on an Alu DS entry/mid level spec. No stock and nothing available for the next x months, only mid to high range carbon.

Epic sports in Centurion have some really nice affordable GT,S in stock
