Or more accurately, have people finally started running out of cash to spend on overpriced luxury items like bikes. Obviously there are the "always wealthy no matter what" crowd who will buy top end everything and new car sales are apparently growing in SA while declining elsewhere. The reason I ask is I have heard that stock is not moving and suppliers have extended payment deadlines to assist retailers who can't sell the stuff...

Repo rate is up

Fuel price is higher than ever

Cost of living is through the roof

Pre covid winters used to be as quiet as this, pair that with the reasons above, it's no surprise that business is slow

But, summer is coming 😎👌

* not really, clean diesel is imperative, especially on something as volatile as my Ford.

Volatile is the correct word of choice when it comes to Ford. Dirty diesel might just have a lower flashpoint, maybe all Ford vehicles should be spec with dirty diesel?

I know what you mean.

I have a 2005 330i manual in the garage. It does less mileage per year than my bicycle, but man when I take it for a drive I'm all smiles.

Although I must say, its pretty darn frugal for what it is, will embarrass alot of modern small capacity motors with its fuels efficiency.

The sound of the flat four/six from Subaru is to die for.

Owned (company car) an Audi A8L W12 for a year in Europe. The autobahn was such a pleasure but the indicator signalled by default at the sight of any fuel station...

Well technically it's because of impurities in the diesel that damages the injectors, leading to them injecting incorrectly, burning holes in the piston.

Well, that was what the engineer at Ford SA alluded to, until I asked him if the WearSpec tests I run for my fleet diesel is good enough, because they gave the all clear. He back tracked and extended the bakkie's warranty put of goodwill.

Cannot agree more, owned a 540 Xdrive with a straight  6. Would have loved to test the 8 cyclinder but BMW only offered the six at that time.

I work in engineering, complexed components from advanced materials. When you know what it costs to make things, you quickly see how stupid the prices of bicycles are, it is completely unjustified in every way. The elites getting richer and the middle class dissolving away into the poor class whilst the poor getting even more poor. The collapse is coming, it is inevitable and it is man made. What happens to the millions and millions living in less than a thousand a month? (Looting,War) it cannot be avoided, Bicycles are now for the super elite, it’s being designed that way, and prices totally inflated so that debt based lending is the only way to own a bicycle. A Japanese hand made motorcycle with thousands of moving parts capable of the over 300km/H cost less than a specialised bicycle. Some become billion airs because of this boom and it is inevitable going to crash like the rest of the global economy.

Actually its not impurities in the diesel but the lube oil that causes Diesel Injector Deposits, specifically metallic precursors like Zinc.

The fuel may have trace amounts of sodium soap that can cause Internal Diesel Injector Deposits (IDID's). These are easily combated through diesel detergent additives.

are you running WearCheck analysis? check your zinc, sodium and other metals trends.

A clear indication of Injector Deposits is the fuel dilution that lowers the lube oil flash point
