Yeah, I'm slowly getting upset looking at the pictures from non-Gauteng hubbers riding their bikes in the sun.

and the extra chill in the air today is really not nice. I had to leave the comfort of my workshop and move an engine to shipping with the forklift a bit earlier. Not only did I get wet but it was unpleasantly cold.

always said Gauteng weather is weird. Winter should be cold and wet. Summer should be warm and sunny. Obviaaaas.

i actually prefer our cold and dry winter, cold and wet is just miserable to me.

A scorching hot summer day with an afternoon thunder shower is glorious.

Used to really enjoy it in our water skiing days, everyone else would pack up and go home, we'd sit it out and then hit the water the moment the rain stopped. Was the best time to ski, no other boats around, glass smooth water

MTD?

A MTD... Mechanical Twitter Device.

A farmer screams all his "k@k gedagtes" into the bottom of that thing and it broadcasts it to everybody in the surrounding area through the multidirectional megaphones at the top...

Rule 9:

// If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.

There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

But then there’s the washing of the kit and bike [emoji52]

I was out in the rain and mud yesterday, it was bearable and then I got home.... I undressed in the empty bath, mud everywhere as I peeled off the shoe covers, washed the outer layers and showered with my bib tights; I washed the bike today.

I do not enjoy the cleanup.

Hiehie .... sounds like Sunday ....

When we got home we took off our shoes outside ... straight to the shower.

Later I carried the bikes outside, as the wheels left a trail of mud ...

Both bikes washed and lubed, it was time to clean the car .... then the garage floor ....

Drenched in sweat it was time for yet another shower ...

Amd it still was a GOOD day out on the bikes :)

Doing it in summer isn’t so bad, but standing outside when it’s 1 degree and washing a bike is pure misery.

As I was on the MTB, on the roads, I don’t have too dirty a bike. I arrived home as it was getting dark, so I am leaving the bike wash until tomorrow. I prefer to wash the bike immediately after getting home so that I can rinse the (old) gear at the same time. It then goes straight into the washing machine. Makes getting on the bike the next time so much more pleasant. Also, part of deciding to go out in the wet, is knowing I have to clean the bike.

Agree - better than deciding it’s too wet.

That’s what make Gauteng a pleasure in winter... it’s usually warmer during the day, and more than often dry too.
