Another magic commute HB - Paarden Eiland, with a surprise!

the 'plug' (Caisson Gate, thanks, Google!) had been REMOVED from the dry dock, so no possibility to cross the Bascule Bridge across the Dry Dock District this morning...

...instead cycled further down to the Clock Tower Precinct, and went across the Swing Bridge - made for a nice change, and the seals on that landing platform were having a real rumble, about who was allowed - or not! - on the platform!

Technically not today, but Saturday morning 😄 Cape Town showing off again...

Nice pic. I'm surprised you didn't pass out from the absolutely horrific stench around that part. I drove past a week or two back and it smells like a loo that was abused and not flushed for a few days.

@Robbie Stewart as per Robbie’s observation, yesterday i attended Polar Bear swim in Small Bay, Blouberg, nice summers day driving past Woodbridge Island, the STENCH was next-level, and for a good km or so.

Made sure windows were UP on return journey, still smelt it, but a little less.

I see they have a massive Generator (with guard) parked on the pavement nearby - this SEEMS pump-station issues?
Cheers

The Cape Town City Council and the mayor should be forced to go swim across that lagoon .......... perhaps they will then DO SOMETHING about the huge amounts of raw sewerage flowing into it from the cities malfunctioning sewerage works. Just talking about what they are planning to do, or an emergency sticky plaster temporary fix is no longer good enough. The terrible pollution is the end result of allowing the massive new suburbs to grow along the West coast without planning ahead and building new sewers and treatment plants. But the property taxes from new developments were just too enticing, and spending on unglamourous things like sewerage works too unattractive, I suppose ............. If I lived on Woodbridge island, I would have made it my little project to go take a dump in front of the mayors office every morning!
