Looking back on the Tankwa. It was simply beautiful but I was overheating.

@copperhead

How did you plan for food and water (especially hydration points)

Stay safe, man

Today was terrible. I ran out of water. I had an extra 6 liters and 2 bottles.

To answer your question. Food I carry. It is a lot of bread and peanut butter. In towns I get fruit and anything I cam eat before I get going. Water I carry what I can. It is heavy stuff. I have had to stop at farm houses more than I care to remember. So far every single time I am supplied with ice cold water and a smile. I am extremely grateful to them. I used to stop at streams. But they are all dry now. I have just collected another liter bottle for tomorrow. I hope that helps.

Thank for taking the time to answer.

Adventure safely, man.  :thumbup:

You are braver than me to ride this route in January.  :thumbup:

It will be a while before I'm in the saddle with Simone (sexiness below)

However, back on the road tomorrow for a light stress test and coffee ride.

good luck with the recovery; it’s never nice to be off the bike, unless it’s warranted.

Thanks. I don't take too many. I will do my best. The beauty out here is unreal. Tankwa is a special place. My ashes will be scattered here. And my bike too ????

We have fond memories of these routes ... in a 4x4 ....

It must be an absolute visual feast on a bike ....

The summer heat surely is another topic ....

PLEASE keep those pics coming
