I vote for bunny chow. Took week off to help my lad with his GCSEs but turns out he is cleverer than me so got on my bike and cycled down to Brighton.

few beers and a bunny chow and train home. No better way to spend a day.

This hill? I got 1/3 of the way up on an ebike but had to give up with all the walkers. Plenty of choice words were heard on the big push up to the gate.

I can imagine that sort of hill on an ebaike; dial up the power and zoom up only to run out of epuff 5km from the finish. Which may as well be 50km with ebike for me.

Hout Bay - Cape Town- Hout Bay, possible ‘goodbye’ to my trusty converted eBike (old ‘manual’ Cape Epic bike), so I decided to ride the distance ONLY on  assist 1 or assist 2, (no use of levels 3 - 9, in other words)…kind of 22% max assist, on a heavyish bike…

Well, weather-wise, it was warm going up Chappies, borderline cold thru’ Mistys, warm up to Cape Point Gate, COOL in the mist past Froggy Pond, a day of contrasts…!

Red Hot Pokers are out everywhere, so I stopped for a rare pic, and posting an even rarer ride report!

Goal of ride was to go long & slow, with very low assist levels; kind of saying goodbye to an old friend, as it were - result was the 1st time the battery icon moved/changed was at very top of Black Hill - and then I got home to Hout Bay with 3/4 battery icon still showing - so over 50% up to 75% residual battery, at least)

Backstory; i recently had my battery properly bench-tested after removing any parasitic loads, etc, and battery health is at 89%,  I wanted to see how far it might take me, so i am going to try it again, and further next time, to see whats possible.

(no cramping ON the bike, but Quads cramped properly climbing stairs last nite!)

A lekker day out, on a bike i have owned 15+ years, and I STILL enjoy it!

! fun fact: it was owned BRIEFLY by Willie Engelbrecht, who broke his clavicle on it, IIRC, and he then sold it near-new, and one of the nices bikes i have ever owned!
