ChrisF Posted January 1, 2019 Share What a nice way to bring in the new year, excellent weather, empty roads, and stunning trails ! My first time to ride from home to the trails, and then ride the trails .... been doing the bike-rack thing for the last 18 months. nice 7,5km commute to get to the start of the trail, with a nice couple of hills to warm up the legs ... WHAT A VIEW when starting the Traverse, no camera can ever do this justice - The trails were simply magnificent !!! Pity (but understandable) that the coffee shop at Bloemendal is closed today. Did a nice fast run of B-Spot, then started the climb .... at the last second I decided to do the Protea corridor, as apposed to Magic Forrest. After D'Aria I settled into a nice rythm and picked up a bit of speed on the level section ..... got used to the longer A-frames, then had a slight oops on the one steep A-frame. Fortunately just a few scrapes, most importantly, no damage to the bike. Then a 7km commute back home. What a nice ride !! Bonus Posted January 1, 2019 Share Climbing up the back of the Pena Montenesa on the route the Enduro World Series used back in September when they held Stage 7 of the Championship here. We climbed just over 800m in 8km of fire road. None of it is steep, it's just a nice gradual climb.
