When is the best day and time to visit the expo for peak vibe?

I usually go on Friday morning, this year however I'm doing the 42km with my 10 year old boy and he's keen to go check out the expo. It's either after school on Friday at 3pm or Saturday morning.

I'm so happy I'm doing the short route with him this year, I haven't been this excited for the CTCT in years!

Really much of a muchness.

Last couple of years we meet the Potch train at the Expo, Friday morning to mid day .....  We get our goodies, spend about a (long) hour at the Expo, then off touring the Kolonie ...

After Saturday mornings ride a few of the group remember something urgent ... and off to the Expo again ... 😋   one could almost think there are no shops in Potch ...  @Scary Rider @SilverRider

The vibe ...

The crowd ...

The stock at the stalls ...

Much the same.  Biggest difference ... the dumb luck of finding parking ...

Ironically, last year on Friday morning they did not have particular shirt in my size .... no, not sold out ... still waiting for all their stock.

Well...we have a saying around here: Potch is 'n lekker plek, net jammer dis so ver van alles af🤪

Those excursions with the Frylincks are the best, the race are at times an afterthought...🤪🤪

The REAL reason for the Saturday expo thing is sort of twofold: one, because we were late, read: Oom Willie was late, we had to hurry; and the second reason is that the naked ridw usually rolls past around that time...enough said!🫣🫣

Edit: I'm being stupid - found it via the Cape Town Cycle Tour club on Strava 🤦‍♂️

Edit again: Actually, the elevation data on that route is terrible. So, if anyone has a good gpx version of the 42km, please let me know

No real rules around it because as long as the road is closed and you don't involved with the race in group 8G you're good to go all the way around again.

Just wrap your number board in some foil .....

Yes, dont throw it in the bin thinking the numbers are 1 use...

The 2026 event guide references train timetables, but they don't seem to be on the website yet. Has anyone managed to find them?

train worked well for Peninsula marathon 2/3 weeks ago - they will get it done, so problem might actually be with CTCT and their slow update.

For sure! I bought them used a year ago, only had one slash in the sidewall that I patched. Just like new boet.

Mooi! Daar is nog baie VAT om eers uit daai bande te ry.

these tickets are cash only so either bring the R50 along and pay when you get to town or buy the ticker at a train station on the Saturday. I wasted about 15min last year an escort to find an ATM to draw cash so I could pay cash. They didn't take cards
