Stumbled across the old 1920's art deco movie theater in Victoria West recently, still kitted out with 50's furniture and late 60's/early 70's tech, gave me some serious flashbacks to childhood movie experiences!

And of course these, the tinny mono sound, the constant threat of driving off with them still attached and the quest for the perfect parking angle :D

Riebeeckstad drive-in Welkom, hahaha we had some family movie time there as kids and then some pleasure moments there when we got our licences to drive. Was the best place for a lekker vry. [emoji1787][emoji1787] Edited by BSG

We're just back from a trip over to the UK. I have some stuff over there in a friends garage that I stored back in 2008 when I sold up in the UK and moved back to SA . . . .  Luckily she doesn't use the garage!

Every trip since 2008 - so every few years - I go and sort out a few more bits. This trip I finally threw out around 100 odd brand new (well, used once) VHS video tapes of stages of the Tour de France from 2003, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Never going to watch them (although we do have a video player) and worth nothing at all.

Who remembers.....

When you could still greet someone by shaking their hand?

When standing talking to someone with your hands in your pockets was considered rude?

When you had a meeting with someone and they were actually in the same room as you?

When Oil was $30 a barrel....

When having Corona meant abuse from your mates because it was a girls beer....

That's a pretty cool place.

There used to be a couple of film projectors on the stage which seems gone from the photo...

just reading the thread about fat-shaming. Remember the bumper stickers in the 80's. My fave: "Save the whales. Harpoon a fat chick" Imagine putting that on your car now. you would be sued...
