I like it, not so much the sponsor logo's on the frame though... each to his own I guess... Then again, they are getting him to and kitting him at the Olympics, a whole lot more than our government is doing for the athletes at the Olympics...

***SIGH*** I hope this government will wake up and smell the coffee already... Then again, maybe I should wake up and smell reality...

Best of luck to both of them. What ever the results will be, it must be one hell of an experience just to go to the Ofreakinlympics ! I'm not bashing JR's Spazepic but I would much rather represent my country on a bike looking like Alan's than on one looking the same (depending on temperature) as 10 others on the course. So ja, I'm with you Gen ! It's not about the bike, It's about the paint !

Super proud of the fact that we are represented as a nation in this event. It is a niche event and it takes a massive amount of money to get the athletes there. I am also very proud of the fact that the bike was put together and painted in Durban. Its nickname should be "DurbanPoison" to go with the paint.

As a Giant fanboy, it is also great to see the frame that I ride in the Olympics.

The very modern suspension design will serve him well. It has been proven through science tests.

Apologies if I've been living in a cave and not keeping up to date with the local XCO scene, but who is Alan Hatherly and when did he arrive on the scene? What happened to the likes of Phil Buys, Max Knox and those okes?

To fill you in on some background info.

Alan started of racing downhill in his youth and was up there with the best of them, he then moved over to cross country.

He tends to have the same race ethic that Burry had, go flat out from the start til you blow. Alan has got a super high reving motor, that used to blow spectacularly in the closing km's of a race. Now as with Burry although at an older age Allan's stamina has caught up to match his engine. His DH background also means he is one of the most skilled riders around.
