Also just got back from the expo

Number collection was smooth and quick

Expo was nothing to rave about items can be bought cheaper elsewhere

Nice goodie bag[emoji16] and good prices on top end cycling clothes and shoes. Some good prices on tubes, tyres and small items!...glad I never stayed too long because the bank balance would have depleted further![emoji2357]

I am going to make a bold call (flame suit on)...

If the wind on Sunday does what is doing at present, I will not be one bit surprised to not get to hear anyone shout Whoopla. And this from Blouberg area...City bowl, Blue Route, Peninsula, Cape Point a whole other, more severe kettle of fish i.t.o. wind

(runs off to duck for cover from the incoming fire)

So you might want to open and check your race number at the collection point - else you might just be called "Valentino" for the day ... true story . Seems at least for me in 1C they got the envelope vs the contents off by one!

Damn I should know better than this by now . Possibly a sign that I should rather be on a motorbike given the current forecast!

Guys, you can calm down to a storm lol

As usual, unless not usual (e.g. 2009, 2017), the wind is a (medium) breeze and builds continuously as the day progresses. The 50km/h anticipated will "only" be around from late arvie. Make no mistake though, it will be blowing a nice headwind from start and closer to Cape Point will pick up significantly but not to such levels that it will need to be called off. Hanging my hat out there to blow away haha

Ja nee. I remember last year a good friend of mine, an FO at one of our local airlines, warned a few days before that their sooper dooper aviation weather predictors said that 2018 race day would look like a kite festival in Port E-wind-lizabeth. And we all know how that turned out...Hey but I think these kinds of wind whoo-haa's precede every single AHGUS and for me that's part of the build-up to get the adrenaline pumping!

I am MOS the eternal optimist and I believe the weather on Sunday in the fairest (and most unpredictable) Cape will not subtract from an amazing experience on the bike...I can't wait!

On my way to work this morning, I saw the clouds piled up high over the Hottentots Holland mountains (out Stellenbosch way), much higher than normal. This is a sign that the wind is here with a vengeance, and also here to stay.

We will just have to take it as it comes on Sunday. It is what it is......

to be honest for me, I don't mind the wind (hopefully not famous last words), as long as it is safe enough to ride and they allow us to ride... that is what matters for me now

Forecast at the moment on windy (rather not check the gust forecast)

we're in obz/woodstock area...so suburbs notorious for getting blasted by the SE when it's howling around this side of devils peak, and although it was frisky last night....it definitely wasn't as bad as the wind a few weeks ago most went training and commuting in. it will be fine.

sidenote: we measure its strength by its ability to pull the old overhead cables from the poles here lol

It’s breezy in Fish Hoek today, but certainly nowhere near winds of past years.

WindGuru says it will progressively pic up during the day with the higher winds only just chasing the last of the last riders through.
