Very bad news for me, I'll be sitting out this year.

Had a nasty crash last weekend and broke part of my scapula. Already had surgery to put it together, but no riding for 8 weeks. I've decided to not get depressed about it because it was close enough that both D and I are happy that we are around at all, thanks to a very sharp driver who managed to swerve incredibly quickly to avoid us as we fell in front of him. D is ok and will still ride come Sunday as part of a reduced team DJR. Both bikes are fine but Red Riding Hood needs some tlc and D needs a new saddle.

that sucks.

more importantly no EROICA?

team DJR still there in force, now with just a bigger supporter crew?

Goody bag. Bottle of dishwashibg liquid and a sachet of mayonnaise... Who would have imagined? [emoji23][emoji23]

Rub your body in the sunlight soap and glide through the wind on Sunday

Don’t get, the fast light riders have he skill to ride in the wind, the larger and heavier riders have the weight to stay put on the road.

I really don't care who makes the decision and why. In the end they impact my back pocket with their nanny state decisions.

I rode the 2009 race, at the time I also thought the 2017 cancellation was total bulldust.

But then I rode around the route on the day in question.

I handled it ok it was a bit sketchy in places, but not my first rodeo.

I think it was the right call, it was just too dangerous for the bottom half of the field.

I think your attitude is incredibly selfish on this issue, and while you're more than entitled to your opinion I don't think it reflects the actual issue - safety is paramount and bad decisions that result in avoidable deaths. I normally wouldn't raise anything on this, BUT we can see with reduced entries that the 2017 event has made a big dent in the allure of the race, and some of that comes from opinions like yours that I feel are unfair.

The goodie bag is actually quite nice this year compared to previous years.

I'll take the five roses tea any day over the flu tablets they gave last year.

(By the way, I would stay away from that energy stuff in the silver sachet, tastes worse than cough medicine)

Yeah but what a kick --- I'm buzzing around like a bee on a hot summer's day.

Quick question as it is my first and my first with the chip.

I have an alu mtb. They say not to put the chip on the fork. Is it ok to put it on the velcro of my shoe though? That ankle strap seems like it will irritate me

i have done it this way before...no problems picking up the timing matt..

Yes, sadly, no Eroica for me this year, but we are still going. I'll just be the team "manager" and photographer. One of the Ds immediately called dibs on riding my bike!

So I did the stadium run.

What a sack of sheet. The traffic there and back from Blouberg took 2 hours. Parking was a nightmare. I had to walk about 3 km in total, not including the circuit, and then at least I got my goodie bag in less than 60 seconds.

I was so over it by that stage, that I made a bee-line for the exit, as I was about ready to start chirping folks. (my wife will attest that I don't do crowds very well)

I never bothered buying anything.

They missing a trick by not including condoms in the goodie bag. Some people shouldn't breed...

Too late for me bro. You are stuck with my spawn.
