Took our 16 yo daughter on her first CTCC so started in 5G instead of my 1A seeding and sounds like it was a blessing.

Got to see a whole lot more of our beautiful peninsula than usual and met some interesting characters too. E bikers etiquette was lacking but awesome spectators more than made up for it.

Condolences to family and friends of the bloke who passed away at misty cliffs, agreed it did look more like a heart attack or similar than a crash.

Anybody know if Racetec have an issue? Results not out yet. Or do they wait for Tour to end and capture everything together?

CTCT results generally take a bit longer to reflect ...

Also, some criminal decided to do this on the way to the start this morning20230312_142824.jpg.1283eee19004a0282a971a1fe3f77abe.jpg

Casually ambles into the road, as if trying to cross, and at the last second flings a rock at our car, on the N1. Luckily it hit more of the pillar than the glass

It’s seems to be getting progressively worse. Riders pass from behind expecting the riders in front to have eyes in the back of their head. No one talks in the bunch. It’s like those frap drivers who break rules or cut you off in terror then don’t want to make eye contact.
& had a few accidents caused by these idiots

A lot of overlapping wheels in the first 10km of 1B and one spectacular crash to my left where I swear I heard the guys collarbone snap.

This overlapping wheel.is the biggest cause me thinks and also a lack of awareness of the concertina effect of even a slight rise in the road.

I watched the front of 1B slowly pull out distance on the main body of 1b after Edinburgh and knew the sub 3 was out of the question by the time we got to Muizenberg.

Just rode along for a 3.11... sigh.

I'm going to do what every self respecting mamil should do in these circumstances and spend more money on more aero bling.

The crashes are bad folks ... Seriously makes me wonder if it's worth it.

On another note... I slunk back onto the m3 at Searle street and eventually peeled my SO off the grass at the side of the road. She had ridden more than half the route with her ebike throwing an error code and hadn't realised it.

Admin rights revoked.

I have now heard of three people that had rocks thrown at their cars on the N1, the other 2 were both near N1 city

About 1km from the Goodwood / Malmesbury turnoff

I usually see many groups on my way down to the start, this morning felt lonely in the dark (most of the lights being off due to cable theft), saw lots of cars with bikes on the roof or on racks. At least I did not get stoned….or hit potholes or glass

Bit stressful when I got there and loading from the front was VIP only so I had to rush though all the (very packed) chutes.

Hey @Morne, agree that the bunches can be sketchy,  but Im not sure I agree with stopping at a crash...it feels bad to roll past, but imagine another 10/20 guys in the bunch slamming on brakes to go try and help...it will cause much more chaos. I really feel the safer thing to do is clear the road as quick as possible to those behind can also pass the accident safely. And then trust that the organizers medical support is going to take care of the incident professionally. My 2c, maybe Im wrong 🤷

Agree with you - not sure stopping at a crash have ever been a requirement... I would not be able to be of any real assistance anyway, I'm not a doctor nor a mechanic.

But I certainly get the resentment towards the person causing the accident riding away unaffected by the mess he/she caused.
