As NSBB said the green is very well maintained . Wendell has added some nice little additions to the green. Rode there today again and some more blue bits..most of it pretty ok . Last bit from Barry’s point is a tad overgrown but all the bits I did are completely rideable . Some nice new jumps and rock rollers

Always keen to ride there ,drop me a pm if you keen .

Thanks for the replies all. I'm keen to give it a go this or next weekend, I'll definitely let you know as I don't want to tackle it for the first time solo. My usual riding buddies aren't very technically inclined or motivated, much prefer big distance on non-technical terrain.

It'll be a proper test of my new bike and me since it doesn't have the dropper I've now become accustomed to on my previous bike.

I heard something about a 3 month extension if your card expires during lockdown. Do you know anything about this?

Yes that is correct, but you must go in to an office and have your card "endorsed".

Cool, let me know. Best you have your climbing legs for that day ????...can sometimes feel like little reward for all the stiff rock climbing you do. But there is some good stuff especially Barry’s point, a dropper would be preferable, well at least it is at my skill level.

More exploring was the order of the day on Saturday. Saw a dirt road leading to a mielie field a few weeks ago close to our local Makro, decided to see where it leads. Would you believe, it took me on a 25km loop circling this farmer's field, past a military base, and spat me out close to one of my local known routes.

So, tallying all up, I've got around 100km of dirt starting 2km from my house without any looping or returning on the same route involved.

Still loving the new bike. The front tyre's casing seems to be very susceptible to small thorns puncturing it (whereas previous tyres I've had and the rear tyre seems to shrug them off without it penetrating through). Not an issue, as sealant seems to be taking care of it.

Also testing out new Garmin 735XT. Absolutely loving it so far, only issue I'm having is that it disconnects from my phone for a few seconds every few minutes, screwing up the LiveTrack.

If you guys agree to a time/day on the weekend, please let me know. I have been to Thaba twice in the last three years. [emoji4]

As I’m taking a couple weeks off the bike, perhaps this is my chance to enjoy a different ride.

Huawei?

if so, the Huawei has a stupid built in battery save function which supposedly is able of being by-passed, but I've not been successful

Samsung S9 actually. Still having a fiddle with it, but more of an inconvenience than a train smash. i'll post should I figure out a solution.

Somewhere between Struisbaai and Gansbaai - no electricity no phone signal and loads of gravel - bit muddy this time but worth it

Nice and flat with a lot of gravel.........just don't get caught there with a summer southeaster headwind or you'll be doing an Everest every 9 odd kilometres. That place made me hallucinate somewhere between Bredasdorp and Agulhas.

I did 50 odd kms with 60m of elevation the one day - the first half at around 14km but the second a pacey 30 odd - thought I was very clever in my planning

Tried it on another occasion, got my bearings wrong and pedaled home into an 80km breeze - focused on my book and a few beers the last few days
