Jonkershoek, after an all too long absence.

Very nice flowy bermy single track all over the place. Not sure what I did and what I didn't do, because the signage is a bit sketchy. Tried to to everything. OK, maybe it just feels like I did. Super fun. Now I'm a happily broken man.

................then drove up to Signal Hill..........WOW !!!!!!..............

What you should do, because it is one of the most scenic "urban" rides anywhere on earth, is to ride up to Kloofneck, best is from Camps Bay side. Or drive if you feel like, then ride the whole length of Tafelberg road, from Signal Hill all the way to Devils Peak and back. The view, and how it changes, with you looking out over the Atlantic, over Table Bay, Robben Island, the City Bowl, Blouberg in the distance, Tafelberg towering behind you, is just fantastic. A big chunk of the road is closed to cars, and the rest is pretty safe because the traffic is slow. It's a good bit of exercise too if you cross over from Signal Hill to the Cable Car side, nice climb. The total of Tafelberg road out and back makes for roughly 20 km. If you add riding up, you can work more than enough to call it training. It is Team DJRs little shake down ride the day before the Argus. Also, if I feel like a short sharp one from home, I go there. Sometimes on the Road bike, sometimes on the Mountain bike, then I take a shortcut over Rhodes Memorial and the kings Blockhouse. The picture was taken a few months ago when we did a slow and easy ride on the old classics.

DJR there was actually a group 4 or 5 MTB riders that got "down" from signal hill side and crossed over the traffic circle and headed up toward the cable car .....

And the cars had a totally different "attitude" that time of the morning - as most cars on that section of road was also there to walk, run or cycle ....  WISH cars could be like that on other roads ...

If you saw a little red car with the driver waving at cyclists this morning - that was me :)

I would always be in two minds if I had two stay in Groot Brak/Glentana region: Fishing or cycling??. I remember posing at that exact bench on two occasions: Once a leaning-bike selfie, and the other holding a freshly caught 5 kg kob.

ride around the front (sea side) of Lions Head on Pats Track eventually reaching the Glen road. Also amazing views looking down on the larneys in Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, etc. Some of those houses seen from above are . Just be aware lots of walkers on that path - be polite, even if a lot of them aren't.

I'm an ex Vrystater so the fishing has never interested me.[emoji6]
