Over the two laps he did make up some nice ground.  NO, he is not a "front runner", but gone is the kid that walked the hills 12 months ago !!

Well done Chris & Maritz - my daughter was also along the 7-8 year olds... She decided after 1 lap she was tired and this is enough. I told her she can stop now but girls that only do one lap don't get medals - suddenly she found the energy for the second..

Looking forward to the Bloemendal leg

Congrats !!

Pity the girls started so soon after the boys .... Lead girl caught half the boys field.  Must have been very difficult for the faster girls.

Still such a nice day, and such a brilliant event !

PS - DM me your daughters board number ... just maybe I got a pic of her ...

My first ride in 3 and a half months since the crash. I started out just around the block to see if the stuffed up arm could carry the weight and it turned out OK. Used the Mtb because it is more upright than the roadies and the front suspension takes away a lot of the jarring.

.....and because it felt good and the freedom gave me a rush I kept going further up the mountain than I planned. Of course, I was too enthusiastic and now the ex-broken shoulder is sore and I'm nursing it with a hot water bottle to get the stiff cramping muscles to relax so I can do my daily physio. Come to think of it, stuff physio for today, I've done enough!

Tokai at sunrise... wind tunnel testing.

I was up there around 9. The wind was very bad. Got blown off a few times climbing up next to dh3. Cut my ride short, took it easy down on vasbyt, getting blown left and right.

It was windy on our way up as well, we went in at 8. Vasbyt was interesting.
