This is not the first warranty refusal for a warrantee-able crack I have seen. I think if more clients post their stories on the brand then potential buyers can weigh up those options before parting with money.

I have a Niner I bought from you that broke after I pulled it through my crack.

Should I ask Canyon whether it is a warantee-able matter?

Let's just sit on this a bit and we might reach Friday  :P

Yep...as long as peeps think its normal to ride your light weight racing bicycle sitting on the top tube  :whistling:

Hopefully we can even get some live video, not of pro's but of us wannabes getting a speed wobble as they hook the back of their shorts or shirt on the saddle nose

While I do appreciate there are cases out there where the manufacturer stiffs the end user by not honoring warranties, each case must be taken on it's merit.

Therefore, on what facts of this particular situation are you basing your position regarding what falls within the warranty?

What happened to the other 2 frames.... they repairable?

Probably, yes.

He chopped them up, though.  Canyon wants to avoid people selling on the old (broken) frames, so you need to either send them back or chop them up.

Chopping up is cheaper than shipping.  It's common practice in the industry.

Sometimes you have to chop up the BB separately and send that back.  It usually has a stamped serial number.

I've had exactly that.  Something in the shirt pocket got stuck on the piece of plastic that holds the saddle rails to the saddle nose.  Brown pant time. :w00t:

I was once shafted by a bike manufacturer. Head tube cracked and I had to send them the head tube with part of the top and down tubes and the bb shell. I went bos with the angle grinder and sent the requested sections to them only for them to turn around and tell me they can't warranty the frame because I could have cracked the frame while destroying it. Nice little Italian company building bikes for a British brand. The shop was so ashamed they replaced my frame and covered the shipping.

Still I won't buy a bike from that manufacturer again.  In the OP's case Canyon replaced 2 frames.... That says a lot. So they definitely honored the warranty.

Can't keep giving away new frames if the end user is abusing it.

Would Basso honor warranty fro TT sitting?
