Had a visit from a pain specialist today.

She worked out a pain management plan for me as (The pain meds I am on now, was compared to smarties)I have to use Tramadol 4 times a day for the next few days (12) to aid in the recovery so that I can get the last operation sorted.

I did not know that the effects would not be instantaneous, biut would take a few days to get to proper controlled levels.

Also got a prescription for new sleeping tabs. It sounds as if pain keeps you from falling asleep (wonder why most doctors can’t figure this out) so she said she just needs me to get rest as sleep is needed for recovery. She will do a reassessment in a few days.

We did not know that there were doctors specializing in pain management. The Matron from Kloof Hospital helped us to get connected to the doctor. We are so blessed by all the Matron did for us so far.

I have to admit that Wednesday morning I passed out from the pain, and Thursday (for the first time in a very long time) I contemplated suicide due to the pain and the matter that a anesthesiologist did not charge us the agreed rate, but 200% rate. So out of the Back a Buddy fund we have R4000 left. So not sure if we can pay the next operations expenses. So can only pray at this stage for the Heavenly Father to provide

Is this the link to your Back a Buddy fund?

Deep cleaned (steam cleaned) my bathroom this morning. Anyone going for an operation, learn from my stupidity. One week is not enough time to heal to start a cleaning spree. 40% of the wound is bleeding. Cleaned the wound afterwards, but started bleeding again when I tried to get up from the bed after the cleaning. So kinda irritated with myself at the moment.

Good luck man. Some bleeding can be good for wound healing. As long as it doesn't form a clot in the space. Which it shouldn't at this stage. Holding thumbs.

I will head over to Pretoria and kick your ass if you say this again.

I don't think I've ever commented on this thread, but I've been following it since it started. I'm really impressed with your resolve. The human body has evolved to be good at dealing with short term stress, we are not as well adapted to dealing with long term stress. So with that in mind I think you just need to accept that there will be moments where you feel low. But so long as you keep reminding yourself that those low moments are temporary, your resilience (which you seem to have in abundance) will help you get through all of this.

Please know that if you can be an inspiration to me (some dude who has never met you) then you are likely an inspiration to many.

This one thousand times... keep up the good fight Cois, you're an inspiration to all of us in the fight against this $hitty disease.

Some good news. The company I worked for 8 years phoned me on Thursday.

Their one tech went AWOL and the one tech had a test with his specialized against a car.

So they needed someone urgently.

So it is part time as they need my services. But it gets me out of the home and focusing on something else.

I can’t wait to get the staples out on Monday as the bloody things and the seatbelt does not work well together.

So a bit of good news for a Friday night

Wonderful news!! I have spent the last few years really worrying about getting work but had a whole bunch of opportunities come through last year. Getting one led to another. So to some degree I understand why and how this is important to you Cois. Am so happy for you!

Hi dude, how's it going? Thinking of you!

Hi Cat-i

Bandages has been removed. Have one little “hole” still draining.

Struggling with severe upper back pain, but that will come right when my walking position is correct and not hampered by stitches.

But I am blessed! I am alive. Spoke to a lady this morning in a shop. Her sister was taken by cancer. So there we both stood tears flowing from our eyes. Gave her a hug and then we both just started crying again.

Her manager asked my wife what was going on and then understood what was going on.

We do not know what impact this bastard (cancer) has on people. The lady lost 5 family members to it! I just hope that companies like CANSA uses the money they get to channel it to the correct places. Even though they could not help me, I hope they can help others!
