The platform you're trying to sell on won't publish the add cause you can't have a "bargain in mint condition".

You'll get a message from the administrator to say that some text in your ad has been rejected, please edit your ad and submit for publishing.

Buyers on The Hub are always looking for a "Bargain in Mint condition" whereas sellers are usually offering the same... the joys of the 2nd hand market   :cursing:

To me, mint condition usually means to ignore the ad and look what else is on sale, especially if I cannot go and view myself. Everyone's definition of mint will vary and you will most probably be disappointed if you buy something that is in 'mint' condition.

Also look at his other add

No picture of actual device......

I can understand constructive criticism on someone's ad.  Maybe help someone new on the hub to understand that our definition of "As New" and "Mint condition" is not the same as his.  Your comment on his Garmin ad however is just a bit childish I think.  There is nothing wrong with the ad as it is clearly still in the original packaging.  You are just making comments now based on a mob mentality, let's burn the newbie.  If he takes the unit out of the packaging just to take a photo for you, you will then argue that it is not new anymore?

Yes, we must protect ourselves from fraudsters and scammers but let's also help people new to this forum to understand how to advertise there stuff in a helpful manner.  This is not helpful.

Looking at it a 2nd time, it could be original packaging.

My comment is to warn a potential buyer that this person's might oversell/inflate etc.

His other being the proof!

For example, if he sells this saying he bought it in SA and it comes with a warranty etc, it might not be true. As there are "gray" gamins floating about and if you have an issue with them and send it to Garmin SA they are quick to reply "Sorry no warranty, as this is NOT one of our units"

I think we must remember we are a community.

Back in the day, I remember there being a lot more comments on adverts, I avoid paying school fees due to some of the comments.

As someone who has spent a fair amount of time in the classifieds I never knew comments existed because weirdly enough they dont appear on safari on MacOS... I once sent a classified link to my iPhone and saw a whole bunch of comments and replies I had never seen before. Maybe its the same for other people but clearly certain browsers just dont give an option for comments nor show any. If I want to see any comments I have to send the link to another browser or to my phone to check.

So you're paying school fees for using a Mac.

When somebody advertises an item for sale as describes is as "mint" condition.

What would you expect it to be?

I would expect an item to look brand new, work perfectly and have no marks or scratches.

This is an unreasonable expectation. Used is used. Brand new is unused.

I think you might have acted a little quickly in your initial response and now you're making up stories to justify it

You're now bordering on accusing him of fraud because his pictures of his bike don't match his use of the word "mint"...

Garmin offer a worldwide warranty. If the unit is registered to you as first owner then it's origin is irrelevant. I've Been down this road with them. Your comment on the ad was uncalled for. Time to accept this and move on. Doesn't make you a bad Quagga
