Not going down myself, so just curious: are they allowing 3rd party test results? I seem to remember the message being that if you cannot prove vaccination, your only other option is the Rapid Test at registration for a fixed fee of R250?

If they allow 3rd-party Rapid results, then you may be able to get it done at places for less than the R250, so definitely a good option if you can bring your own test results.

Isn't the vaccine free?

I was privy to a very heated discussion between 2 cyclists at a stage race over the weekend on why Bill Gates was the ati-christ and why the vaccine was just another way the government was controlling us.... This was 2 middle aged, evidently quite well off guys who could afford to be at a rather exclusive bike race.

I was shook.

But ja, if you're a lightie then it sucks that you fall outside of the 6 week timeframe, but then R250 isn't much AND, as a lightie, if R250 is a bridge too far financially, you have lots of years left in the tank to get CTCT done because you're young.

Bill Gates was the ati-christ

We all know he became one of the richest people on the planet by being a nice guy hey? Plus there's a charity named after him so he must be a good guy. Anyone who speaks badly of him is just a jealous loser.

On a different note,

When is the Cape wind Doctor planning on going to sleep / leaving

Wind is pretty hectic in the CBD and surroundings

It's pretty ugly till Wednesday. If you go anywhere near Cape Point don't wear a hat. We're talking 30+ knots of dandruff removing South Easter till Wednesday. Then a front pulls through Thursday & Friday. The weekend looks stellar for the peeps riding. Overcast with light wind. 13 knots SE right at the point which means pretty much windless everywhere else.

You couldn't reasonably ask for any better conditions.

It just does not make much sense what government has decided. F1, world champs etc everyone gets tested as a vaccine does not mean you cannot pass on Corona. So the idea of testing is making sure nobody creates a spreader event. If going to bother testing should test everyone.

In an ideal world you would probably test everyone, but I guess they are cost-minimizing in assuming that the vaccine will reduce the chance of positive vaccinated people, and incentivizing vaccination as the chances of contracting COVID after the vaccine (from the race) are significantly lower (and the severity of the cases lower).

I did one in france and two in SA, no difference, felt like they scraped the back of my skull on each occasion. Maybe because there wasn't much in the way ????

Neighbour works for one of the pathology labs, so have done thousands of these tests ....

"Sadly" the only effective test is way way at the far nether regions of the nasal passages.

Sorry, off topic

the one reason for not testing everyone is that apparentley the vacinication body response can trigger false positive on some tests.  so its good change that you will show positive if you been recentley vacinated

well, that is from what i've read.  could be complete BS as well, like covid.
