Isnt there cameras along there? I know at the entrance to chappies there are. Whats the chances of getting the the getz reg number. The cyclist and driver should foot the cost. Tailgating is illegal as far as I know.

won't be hard to get the reg number, (due to the cameras along the route) ,the time, along with make of car are all known - perhaps this is something Duane's insurance should be looking into though which I am sure they are.

The guy on the bike cut his face open and the brake hoods shifted on his bars. I reckon he got away very lightly. He could easily have broken his neck on my bakkie.

So 3 bad decisions. All of which I had no part in resulted in me having a hefty repair bill to my car. Joy!

 

 

Duane, I'm sorry to hear this man. All avoidable things. Hate to say it, but I hope people learned something.

Just pass his details on to your insurer ..... THEY will get their lawyers to chat to him.  (though it wont go any further than a chat and a firm threatening letter)

I've got a mate in the motor trade. He's gonna get someone to knock the dent out for me. I'm not going to get all lawyery on the poor oke. His cheek looked not great and I'm fairly certain his very nice Colnago will be cracked somewhere.

Even more reason to make sure to relay the full version of events to the insurance.  Often we make a call that the damages are less than the excess, and fix it without the insurer ... that may fix the damage, but still leave you wide open for a claim.  ALWAYS let your insurer know of incidents and accidents.

The Getz driver was over a white line around a blind corner overtaking dangerously. I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion.

The getz didn't hit you. Whilst unfortunate in my short sentance, it's sadly that simple. 

If that Getz wasnt there and you had to jump on the brakes to avoid planting your car badge into the 3 abreast riders, then the tailgater would have hit you anyway. 

What if that Getz took avoiding measure to not stamp a skeef H into the rear of one of those 3 abreasters, and your braking action was a nett result of him avoiding a mistake? I'm not blaming you by any stretch of the imagination, just suggesting that you need to look at the tailgater that actually hit you for reimbursement. I'm sure you have the riders details anyway. 

Personally I'd string the 3 riders up in the town square and quater them with used tubes, but that doesn't get good reactions nowadays anyway
