This is an old story, ran a few months back also. Somebody just regurgitated it. He got identified then and dealt with.

Not approving his behavior, just saying.

ja. the link to instagram is not from this thread, and the FB got taken down.

Either way, I only saw it for the first time now. It's the usual 2% giving the other 98% a bad name. this guy will be a tjop behind the wheel of a car too, hope he got named, shamed and treated like he deserves.

Missed the resolution, what happened to the guy?

Cannot remember, but it was nothing more than a mere rap over the knuckles.

In it's own clownish way this little clip exposes the dark and f#43d up underbelly of social media - "creators" make clips about contentious issues (lots of motorists want cyclists to get a p#@sklap, lots of cyclists are outraged by the treatment we get from motorists), manufacture a scene in the hopes that it will go "viral" and propagate like this one did here in the interests of getting a slice of the advertising pie. The platform controls the tech and rakes in the bucks.

Then the society wrestles with the contentious issue in a now further polarised and more emotive manner than before.

Map this onto more complex and significant social issues like a coup in Myanmar or the Capitol hill riots in Washington and .... thanks tech bros.

Move fast and break things indeed.

And that little model becomes more complex when the "creator", instead of being motivated solely by cash, is actually an AI informed bot motivated by a specific political agenda or a hired gin with instructions to amplify a particular issue.

And we also haven't opened the Cambridge Analitica box.

Meanwhile the nerds controlling all of these platforms co-opt freedom of speech arguments to legitimate their malignant influence on every aspect of non-virtual life while dealing with budgets larger than small nations.

From what I've heard it was just a terrible accident and the motorist was not at fault

I have also heard similar, along the lines of did a U-turn without looking, right into the path of the bakkie

Yassus the poor young man.

It makes me livid too - I keep having that NMT document that went out for public comment a few months back with the experience of riding in CT and the endless stream of attacks and deaths.
