ChrisF Posted July 29, 2017 Share My first outing at Koeberg. we got there minutes after sunrise ... to a crisp 6 degrees ..... did not look like a good idea then. but as soon as we hit the trail it was AWESOME !! thin mist layer in the air. fresh dear tracks along the trail. First time since 1999 that I did more than 20km (22km) in a single ride ! GLAD that it all went good, and looking forward to many more such rides !! (sodra ek weer op n saal kan sit). I was very cautious, and kept working the gears to protect my knees, still managed a 17,2km/h average - and we took time to smell the roses (or rather to listen to the waves). DJR Posted July 29, 2017 Share My first outing at Koeberg. ................As much as we like to hammer Escom, the one good thing I can say about them is the way they restored their land surrounding Koeberg. It used to be a totally alien infested sterile wasteland in terms of biodiversity. Now it is an absolute joy to see the indigenous fynbos plants and animals thrive. Not just the bigger things like the antelope, but also the birds and smaller animals. It is particularly good to see how the natural wetlands returned after eradication of the Port Jackson.
