Dealers (who pay to list) have the option to turn them off.

Going forward, we will be removing comments for all adverts. Digging through the numbers, they aren't widely used. We've also received a lot of feedback about comments being confusing, so we'd rather people enter a more direct channel of communication.

How will I call somebody else on a ridiculously priced item from then on..........

but what happens if the item is clearly incorrectly advertised ..... can one not comment on this anymore on the add then?

You can contact the seller to point out their mistake or report it to us.

We've got plans to try to include clued up members of the community in moderating such reports.

what would the reasonable time be to wait for someone who sends a PM saying  (If this is available i will take it) i have replied yes available and i have asked if they still want it but no reply from buyer

Happens plenty. A simple "thanks, but I won't take it" would be appreciated

DO NOT hold onto any items. Showing interest and actually buying are not necessarily linked AT ALL.

Held many an item before just to struggle to sell a week later. People see the ad age and assume you are struggling then want to negotiate the price down.

^ This.

Been down that road too many times.

I understand why hubbers write "if you see the ad, it's available. No need to ask."  If it actually works..

I put that in every ad and without fail I still get 10 "is this available" messages. I feel for people who are that mentally challenged.....

the counter argument to this is all the adverts that stay up after items are sold....and you enquire about availability...only for the seller to say "oh ja sorry that was sold a while back"

I've actually had that answer while the ad said 'if the ad is up the item is available'!

Hi, I am interested in buying your hub, would you ship to Cape Town?

Oh, the red hub? Sorry, that was sold weeks ago.......

Exactly!
