It's starts with a slap using a hand... what's next? A little paddle? The fun starts running out soon after that and they start pushing people off their bikes. Maybe a baseball bat?

Stop the shitty behavior early and you could save a life. It's bull**** to begin with and shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Seriously couldve turn out way worse if was less experienced rider and got massive freight and veered off into sidewalk.

Crappy behavior

Would most likely be me. I get a fright **** easy and I tend to squirrel. Would have sucked!

To the guys claiming this isn't assault or think its just a funny prank, imagine it was your wife/daughter/girlfriend/mom who was the one getting smacked on the ass. Would you still be saying it's just a funny joke?

I support the victim here and kudos to Rory for being so persistent with this. We need more guys like him in the community.

Do we apply special rules to related females that we should be applying to all humans but don't? And would the appeal be different if we thought of them as our husband/son/boyfriend/dad?

It's kind of already happened. A couple years ago the Naval MP's had to find Naval men who had used either a belt or a sjambok (I can't recall which one) on cyclists on Black Hill whilst wearing both uniform and driving a military vehicle. I don't know the outcome of this particular case but I know it has never happened again as a number of the commuter cyclists in the deep south are members of the Navy. This was a part of the reason why I shared the OP Facebook status, mostly because I do NOT want this to become a thing that people think is appropriate to do.

Firstly let me state that I'm glad OP persisted and I hope the perps get charged.

But I have some questions,

OP comes across as having a personal vendetta against these perps, makes me wonder.

Then the statement about being more stable on a MTB than a road bike, I personally dont see how that is true.

Not looking to fight, just questions in my head.

I have/had nothing against any of them before this video was posted. I have never spent time with the abuser but have been around and have Mutual friends in common with the guy at the back. I have no personal issues with any of them other than the fact that they're clearly immature and reckless. Hope that clears it up.

And if you Not sure how thicker tyres and wider bars make a MTB more stable on the road, perhaps take your road bike to the MTB trails and that may help you understand the difference.

You are 100% correct, what apply to one person must also apply to any other (regardless of gender or race).

The point was simply to make it clear that the behavior is not acceptable, some people only get this if you refer to things that is a bit closer to their heart.

For those thinking "ag it's not a big deal", check below. And just because it never ended this way, doesn't mean it wouldn't had this video I've posted not been brought to light because as stated by someone, if they got away with it, guaranteed they would have done it again for more "likes" and laughs!!

"An assault is the act of inflicting physical harm or unwanted physical contact upon a person or, in some specific legal definitions, a threat or attempt to commit such an action. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in criminal prosecution, civil liability, or both."

Just being devils advocate here, but are we not becoming a pansy, litigious society. Dam I would have just chalked that up to whatever.

I really thing we need to grow a thicker skin, next we are going to complain about cyber bullying and name calling. We really have reached the bottom.

On a similar note:

I have been cycling on a road that did not have a shoulder and was passed by too closely by a few rugby supporters in a double cab. I have them the hand (not the finger) and they turned around and we had a chat.

Net result is that I was tazed on my arm and they rode away laughing.

That I also chalked up to experience. Yeas It would have been in my rights to lay a charge (we had the reg no)

But damn it is what it is. Deal with it.

I learnt that I need to check my routes (this is not one of those cases) and then just deal with it.

I really do not have time to deal with the legal system, nor the ability to afford time off work to deal with a petty thing like this.

Then again I do come from an older era. If I really wanted to do something about it they would have not see me in a blind ally or the vehicle would be keyed etc.

I am older now so we move one.

Millennials I tell you.
