Craai Posted January 18, 2022 Share 8 hours ago, _David_ said: LOl.... "Virtually every aspect of the Fenix 7 is better than the Fenix 6 in my testing. Both the tangible things like GPS, barometric altimeter, and heart rate accuracy – but also much of the day-to-day bits around user interface design is more polished." "But as good as the Fenix 7 may be, it’s not what I’d buy for myself. I’d buy Epix: Any day, every day." One thing to keep in mind with the AMOLED screens is the issue of screen burn, I know some users reported issues with it on the Venu. https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu/260040/venu-screen-burn-in For me, I’d much rather have the longer F7 battery life (and torch!) than a prettier screen on the Epix _David_ and IceCreamMan

Especially for a watch that costs R20k you'll want it to last. There are mitigations for to prevent or reduce screen burn in but only time will tell. Rocket-Boy Posted January 19, 2022 Share Seems Garmin are now in the same uncomfortable spot as Apple and co, the new device just cant have enough new features to warrant upgrading from the previous one. The one thing that will still drive sales is people who want to always have the latest. Personally I cant see a reason to upgrade from my 5X Plus. dave303e, Stretched@Birth and Steven Knoetze (sk27)
Furbz Posted January 19, 2022 Share 19 hours ago, dave303e said: I have to disagree. When you wet, in gloves, cold, over sweating etc a touch screen is a pain. Give me the standard buttons any day. I am still super happy with my 6x pro, battery life, metrics etc, it ticks all boxes for me. Glad there is such a push for battery life. Because if it has 60 hours now, maybe in 3-4 years it will still be good for 20 hours, which was my previous watch on day 1. Keep in mind the buttons are still there and you can set to have the touch screen disable in activities. so for day to day activities = touch screen awesomeness for riding in rain = disable touch and revert back to the usual buttons its the best of both worlds Dirkitech, Jackal355 and DIPSLICK

We need to be patient. The Epix really appeals to me but if it will nudge the R20k barrier I am not so sure! Same path as fancy cell phones - ridiculously expensive
