Getting into the hang of this "work from home" thing ....    Put in a few extra hours on those rainy days ....Today I was WORKING by 6:00.

13:00 I started my ride ... this was going to a be a long slow ride ..... almost 15km later the fun was about to start  ....

My first time doing Bloemendaaler .... Even though it was already past 3pm, every so often there were still dew drops on the leaves .... and a good few spots where you simply see the surface was still super slippery after yesterdays rain ....  All too soon it was done.

Time for the mid ride coffee at Bloemendal, before the 12km back home

During the first 25km I saw one other rider on the trails.  Heading home, the trails suddenly got busy after 15:30 ...

One of the BEST rides in a long while.  Perfect weather.  Trails in excellent condition.

As a vaalie living in CT for last 15 years all i can say is that the winters here are absolute heaven .  But dont tell the up country folk  .  The air is fresh the weather is perfect and the trails are so prisitine you can taste the soil with every breath.

Beattbox and I took his daughter over Chapmans Peak for her very first road ride last weekend. I thought that it was either a brilliant or a terrible idea. He hoped it would inspire her to try it again, but imagine doing any other road after that......it must be a let-down. Time will tell if it was the right thing to start her with champagne and caviar!

More exploring was the order of the day on Saturday. Saw a dirt road leading to a mielie field a few weeks ago close to our local Makro, decided to see where it leads. Would you believe, it took me on a 25km loop circling this farmer's field, past a military base, and spat me out close to one of my local known routes.

So, tallying all up, I've got around 100km of dirt starting 2km from my house without any looping or returning on the same route involved.

Still loving the new bike. The front tyre's casing seems to be very susceptible to small thorns puncturing it (whereas previous tyres I've had and the rear tyre seems to shrug them off without it penetrating through). Not an issue, as sealant seems to be taking care of it.

Also testing out new Garmin 735XT. Absolutely loving it so far, only issue I'm having is that it disconnects from my phone for a few seconds every few minutes, screwing up the LiveTrack.

Is the makro you start from a secret, would love somewhere safe to park for a ride like that.
