This is a massive reason why I prefer the 'do it then tell my mom and wife' about it approach.

'I'm going to' often ends in disappointment for everyone.

All this hype for a big naught. So manny almost rans these days with 7000 likes and comments.

It's like those guys who have a garage full of tools and DIY equipment and spend their lives watching YouTube videos of other people actually making stuff.

Planning on, going to try, would like to attempt..... pffffft

Lame

Where he does get kudos is that he did actually give it a go, learnt the error asap and then moved on.

kid can clearly ride a bike, if he drops it totally then you know how serious he really was about it.

Yeah, but he should have had all these proverbial ducks in a row before he started marketing.

What was he actually marketing anyway? Was he doing the thing for charity? If he was doing it for Vegan awareness then that's a fail. He just made me aware that he didn't plan the thing very well. I won't be hiring a Vegan as a project planner now will I?

Just shut up and get the job done. If you succeed, launch the documentary, tell everyone how awesome you are, get your STRAVA badge, get some nut butter endorsements and move on.

If you fail, no one is any the wiser and you can plan your next attempt without a big failure tag hanging over your head.

Zeitgeist I suppose.... ( He also has a potty mouth...)

Event cancelled:

This is a hell of a lot of excuses packed into one video.

Surely the GPS data is more relevant than the calculator which isn't accurate?  The calculator gives you a vague idea of numbers but can't be used as the deciding factor.

Plus, why not just try it out and see how close you come?  To give up before even attempting it is super lame.

He comes across as a whiny baby in the video.

At least try.

I meant try to actually do the challenge, see where you end up and plan accordingly from there.  This is just giving up after an hour and then listing a whole bunch of excuses.

I mean seriously, saying that a brake cable might snap or that the front tyre might blow out - these are risks involved with riding a bicycle.  To list them as excuses when you're putting up your "I couldn't do it" video is just pathetic.

What a wanker

How the hell do you not do all these calcs before you swing your dick around on social media. Im not denying he's a strong rider... But his ego got the better if him here

Also, next time...get your statement across without swearing.

That's not gonna f*****g happen..............

what I don't understand

if he has a barometric gps, even if it "overreads", it should be more accurate that the strava calculation and he should get the record if he completes 8848m as per his GPS or at least that's how I read the rules.

He was slowing down from 2:12 a rep to 2:52. Even at his fastest I dont think he would have made the record, too slow on the down hills.
