No big climbs; how hard can this be? Well the road is rough as the proverbial bear's bum and dusty with it then the wind is always from voor but doesn't touch the heat. Eish; much beer was drunk. Eugéne Alberts Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Took a drive out to the otherside of the boerewors curtain with the missus, made sure we had our passports.1E381F5C-68CF-4556-9E2C-8DD026CA25C8.jpeg First time out at Buffelsdrift, and the place does not disapoint. Had great aspirations of doing the full red route, but ran out of legs and water, so when the "shortcut home" board came up, we hightailed it back. All in, a great route, work on the climbs to be rewarded with fast, flowy technical downs. ChrisF Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 (edited) What a nice way to bring in the new year, excellent weather, empty roads, and stunning trails ! My first time to ride from home to the trails, and then ride the trails .... been doing the bike-rack thing for the last 18 months. nice 7,5km commute to get to the start of the trail, with a nice couple of hills to warm up the legs ... WHAT A VIEW when starting the Traverse, no camera can ever do this justice - The trails were simply magnificent !!! Pity (but understandable) that the coffee shop at Bloemendal is closed today. Did a nice fast run of B-Spot, then started the climb .... at the last second I decided to do the Protea corridor, as apposed to Magic Forrest. After D'Aria I settled into a nice rythm and picked up a bit of speed on the level section ..... got used to the longer A-frames, then had a slight oops on the one steep A-frame. Fortunately just a few scrapes, most importantly, no damage to the bike. Then a 7km commute back home. What a nice ride !! Bonus Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 Climbing up the back of the Pena Montenesa on the route the Enduro World Series used back in September when they held Stage 7 of the Championship here.
