Yebo Yes! I had one of those yesterday too. I didn't have a route, or a plan, or a target interval or heart rate or speed or or or.... I was just out, riding my bike, because riding a bike is fun.

If you sit back and consider it (or try to explain it to an alien), the fact that there are so many people taking cycling so seriously, training their balls off, never taking a photo/piss/beer break, just to be maybe, slightly better than average, seems a little strange.

You don't see people at the driving range at 04:30 in the morning, religiously moering 100 balls before work every morning and a 500 on the weekend, only to try to come mid pack at a regional paid-for tournament.

You mean there are people that DON'T ride for fun?

I wouldn't even know how to do that.

I put in a fair amount of time and effort to be a midpacker

Can't imagine how utterly crap I'd be without the "training"

These posts would suggest you would be a "better mid-packer" if you stopped stopping for photos ....

PLEASE dont listen to them !!!  We LOVE your pics

When people I used to push over the hill, push me, then I know I need to train some more, or stop doing the things that stop me riding.

Apparently I was cycling in my sleep last night.

My wife tells me I do that when I'm having a deep sleep, last night I slept the best I've slept in a looong time, so it must have been a lekker ride.

Pity its not on Strava. :)

So this morning I decided not to get up early and ride, just lay there enjoying the feeling of being rested.

Monday's freezing hail storm near Beaufort West. Back to 35 yesterday and today. I love the Karoo.

Looks like my back yard this afternoon, with the sudden rainfall, but on a smaller scale.

Not only because it is the best time of the day before the world wakes, but also necessary to avoid spontaneously combusting in the cape heat 😆
