Will confirm authenticity, but looks like I’ll get my morning run in.

That is a complete mess, its going to be abused.

The whole reason we are in this lockdown is because people couldnt act like adults in the first place.

Honestly it should be a strict lockdown where you can only get out for food and medical supplies.

People will ignore most lockdown regulations regardless. Me on my own jogging at 4 in the morning pose no risk to anyone. Im more concerned about people going to the shops unnecessarily.

Just checked for myself, it is on the NHI Twitter feed

Honestly have mixed feelings about this!

Why? Its not as if someone is going to organize a neighborhood parkrun all of a sudden. People will walk their dogs, they will jog, they will stay sane and healthy, all this while posing zero risk to anyone else. Edited by Mudsimus

Please stopping thinking that a few privileged people who go for a solo jog and have heaps of food stockpiled are the nucleus of the challenge or an accurate representation of the of the population. You are not.

The majority of people in SA live in poverty and close proximity to each other. That is where the intended impact of these measures are aimed at.

If you are allowed too, and you go for a jog and do not come within 50m from another person, please explain to me to how that is contributing to the problem vs 500 people fighting over a packed of toilet paper at the corner store.

I just wish there was one place where we could go to find out all the official relevant info.

So many fake screen shots and things doing the rounds.

How hard would it have been to setup a basic website for this .

I am very happy that we re allowed outside for exercise. But this will be abused. Speaking from my (lower) middle-class perspective I think I will be fine. I am worried about people living in poverty in densely populated areas. We can however not expect someone living in 5m2 to stay inside indefinitely.

There is an official website:

Point I was trying to make

Ag, I can see this whole lockdown thing ending up being a waste of time (not that I am against it by the way). Looking at my cameras while I type this I can see about 20 kids running up and down my street, no worries there (from around  7 or 8 different families), people will still go out and do their cycling and running, people will still go and socialise around a braai with drinks...backyard taverns will still be in full operation....how on earth can all of this be policed when we had lawlessness issues before the virus said hello....

Good luck to all of us who will try and do our bit by staying away from people and the outside world but I fear this is just going to turn into an uncontrollable mess...

Not negative but realisitic, I'm starting to sense that the lockdown is a pretty tall order for most South Africans to adhere to....Actually after trawling around Facebook it seems its a pretty tall order for most around the world who are in this situation....

Just do your own due diligence... You aren't responsible for others. Hopefully those entitled non bread line tjops who abuse the leniency get sjambokked all the way back to their 2 acre property.

Those who braai/socialise will get their families and friends sick and potentially kill someone. That is something they will have to live through and live with forever after.

Do your bit and you will be doing the most you can..... I don't think it's a waste of time. I think it's the best we can do in these really uncertain times.

Very well put good sir.

Point: Don’t abuse it. Stay away from others.

I'm not disagreeing with that. Already frustrated and the lockdown hasn't even officially started.

But I also think if millions of people who are on lockdown and sitting bored at home are allowed to go excercise outside that is exactly what they are going to do. Streets and parks could then be filled with people excercising "on their own", especially in areas with higher concentration of people.

Like I said earlier - this lockdown is costing our economy BILLIONS, the financial impact will hit us for years - so why not do it %^& properly and get it over and done with? Is the risk messing up our sacrifice or extending the lockdown because people aren't able to stay on their couches for 3 weeks really worth it?
