Haven't posted any pictures lately since every ride just seems to look the same here on the Highveld... Came across this dodgy looking scene yesterday morning

 

Was informed by a local commuter passing by that he had it on good authority it's either a skelm who couldn't 'find the satellite' or 'wanting money from Sanlam' (sic)

I only discovered riding a bike on the road this year around March and I’m still amazed at how wonderful it is to see the country like that, although I’m sure the location matters.

It feels like it’s rained most days though so we pay for it like that.

Right now it’s beautiful here but it must be one of maybe 10 nice days this summer and it’s 19 degrees [emoji16] although it feels more like 25

Friday afternoon Maritz and I decided to go to Contermanskloof, been a long while since we rode here.  Parking area was busy, with lots of riders starting the afternoon ride.  We followed a group, with the intent to do the first climb, then turn right, enjoying the single track down to the dam with the climb to the other side of the farm ....

 

 

Once we got to the turn we saw the single track has been closed off .... Okay, let's try this route up the koppie ....

Today was my opportunity for a solo ride before the rain sets in for the next week ....

 

"stiff" Northerly breeze ....    Wierd haze in the air, not yet clouds ...

We might need to post a few more signs for the newbies on the trails ... scary coming out of the berms at the speed of white light and to face an oncoming kid on a bike

Damn !!!  The wind was PUMPING up here !!!!!!  Thankfully the single track was well shielded from the wind, and I could enjoy the breathtaking beauty ....

 

 

 

 

 

On a lighter note .... sure this was the perfect weather to start using my new top ....

Am a bit sad today to see a favourite spot of mine for the last 27 years now becoming another 'lodge' with a scar of a road leading up to it...too much land 'shrinking' and becoming fenced off from other important areas for wildlife to roam about...I guess everyone wants their piece....
