Isopropyl or brake cleaner works well for me

Even just water if you got forearms like Popeye

Water? You are brave, last time I had slide on grips a bit of water got under the grip the day before a ride I did, after about 10 minutes it made my grip start slipping and sliding the rest of the ride, 3 hours of that was HORRIBLE, I have been on lock on grips since then.

To answer Chris, you do get different thicknesses of lock on grips, DMR is one example, currently I have Torc1 racing quad bike lock on grips, they have been really nice, but I do want to try DMR, they are just so expensive...

The thin lock-ons are terrible. I've just removed the Syncros grips my bike came with and replaced with ODI Rogues. My favourite grips.

You do get silicone lock on grips.

Wether they are as nice as the ESI ones I won't know.

Spez Enduro lock on grips are highly underrated imo, and they're like hens teeth here unfortunately.

Had to courier up my latest set from one of the cape Town spez stores

Agreed. They are my second choice. Even my wife who gas small hands like them.

I really can't remember which one it was, but they might not even have

At that time we ordered the last 5 sets they had to split between me and a few friends

But they're awesome, after a little time to wear in they get softer and gripier

Ask your local specialized store to order for you.

Grips. A liberal dousing of hairspray inside and on the bars, pop on. Done.

Our first attempt, they said alcohol, only had Brannas so gave it a shot and it worked very well. Dries up easily and quickly but one smells like a dronkgat when you are out on your first ride. [emoji1634]

Make sure to route your chain correctly through the derailleur and test it on the stand before you test it on the ground ;) I managed to route it outside the cage  and nearly mangled the cage and chain.

Some jobs require more than one person - e.g. to set the b-gap on an Eagle derailleur it should be done at 30% sag which is pretty difficult on your own. You may be able to deflate the shock and hold it in place with a strap to get the suspension at the correct sag without weight on the bike.

I've been using probikegarage. Gives hours and also gives the ability to set service intervals on each component.

You can also try dropping a dot of tippex on the 11spd or 10spd chain for a quick visual reference ... next thing you have been riding in the rain and that card gets wet leaving you with Egyptian hieroglyphics to decipher on the side of the trail.

I used larger font should you not have your reading glasses on you.
