How do you know it's a waste of money? Can you see their back office, flow/visitor numbers? You see what the updates 'look' like, but you will find what they 'DO' is better.

I think you need to accept that as a business, BikeHub needs to keep it's platforms current and up to date, not just for the end user but also for their data collection, ease of use, size of delivery etc.

Geeks? Really?

Wow....... Traditional name calling from the school yard to try to come across more assertive.

You go big man!

@jewbacca  I am on the same side as you on this one.  It blows my mind why people have to pivot immediately to insulting, derogatory and abusive language when they find something they simply could choose to ignore or just pass by.

You know, if I were a less than civilized person without the gobs of restraint that I possess, I would be inclined to call out this KingCrispy human dumpster as a miserable box who should eat a bag of d1.cks.  Fortunately, I am far too peaceful and serene, so all I am going to do is politely suggest that he exercise his economic right to decline BHPlus offer, and perhaps refrain from the attempts at just sh,1.tting all over a genuine attempt by the good folk at BH to try something new.  How hard is that?

Out of interest, what is the normal average of unique visitors to Bike Hub ?

Was there a spike during lockdown ?

We normally see numbers in the 170-220k range depending on the season.

April was slightly up relative to depressed March numbers but still on the low end of that range. In April we saw a 20% growth in forum activity, but had a 50% decline in Classifieds activity.

May was a different story though, posting our best numbers traffic wise in roughly 12 months. We suspect in part as a result of people getting out on their bikes more in level 4 and more newbies came looking for advice and options to get out on two wheels.

Thanks, your answer follows what I suspected in term of traffic peak in May.

Now just to retain those visitors.

I would like a BikeHub Plus Epic 2021 team.

it is an online reality tv vibe, your biking activities belong to the bikehub public for this period..

*open only to bikehub plus subscribers (by a certain closing date).

*users can submit their entry, and motivate why they would be cool to be on the team - it obviously must be interesting to follow. and be voted on/selected whatever.

(now there could be some interesting play in this, in that 2 people need to go together - we could get total opposites on the team) in fact we could get two mortal forum enemies to need to pair up!

*bikehub mancom just need to find a sponsor(s)

that is my brainfart. run with it (oh, and i start with 20 votes, obviously)

Potty mouth full-suss chop.

I will refrain from making further comments, as will I not be paying for any BH subscriptions

hahahaha 'Full-suss chop'!!

Your name calling skillz are top drawer!

KingCrispy, I'm sure you're a nice guy when you're sleeping. I seem to recall you were one of the original 'buyers and re-sellers' on here. (I could be incorrect but I recall items being turned over under your avatar in the past).

You have used the site to trade etc with some degree of success and dabbled in the comments albeit somewhat abruptly.

Instead of being derogatory and openly taking a 'tone', why not just say 'Thanks guys, good luck with the new ventures. I will continue to use the site as a regular free user'....

I dunno, it's just a friendly suggestion. Unless you've been getting too much product from Shan Wilson. Then the roid rage probably has you at seeing red disposition and there's no helping that...

I guess it's to be expected that as a service such as BH grows it will need to re-asses how it generates income. Giving people the option of an ad free experience is a good way to do this. Also I think the way you guys are handling this is admirable. Basically things stay the same for anyone that doesn't want to pay. That's great.

Doing it the Strava way leaves a really bad taste, and I probably won't be paying their subscription fee. Also I don't really need their Summit features. I don't really need BH plus features either, but you guys aren't forcing a downgrade on me, which actually makes me more inclined to subscribe.

I really hope that this remains your long term plan, and that you won't phase out regular features or introduce Plus features that create a large chasm between user types. As for me right now, I'll have to wait for my full salary to be reinstated until I can join Plus.

Ps. I too would love having comments back on the classifieds. Maybe make this a Plus feature and allow the ad owner to reply to comments on their ad? Probably easier said than done I suppose.

I'm a bit better after a beer.

I've never advertised anything for sale here.

Thing is, it seems like a telegraphed move here by Matt.

My guess is that within a year this entire site will be a paid for service

I miss the porn and the religious forums .I have all the cycling stuff i need .There is nothing left for me here now

then you don't have enough. you need to have more cycling stuff than you actually need before we can take you seriously,

speaking of the porn , after the shutdown of our favourite thread I started following a few of the pros on insta, one of them being miss Batty. Now she is not normally my type looks wise, but the other day she post an image of herself standing over a bike in high heels and a black dress. That appealed to my senses.

Nah... That will never happen here.

The guys rely on the traffic of the 'non engaged' users in the classifieds. I think the number of classifieds browser profiles that cross over into the forum section would give the 'we ARE this website' brigade a bit of a fright.

There are some really cool plans in the pipeline and roll out can't happen overnight. I think the 'new' forum platform and the value added classifieds upgrades still being prepared to roll out will give better clarity to the users about what has been done and why.

Free users are and will always be the backbone of the site.

To be honest, I couldn't give a fig right about now. Matt & co are fully within their rights to monetise some aspects of the forum, and you're fully within your rights not to want to pay. That's fine. It doesn't mean that you're all of a sudden cast off like yesterday's bath water, and it ALSO doesn't mean that they're being money-hungry troglodytes. You're not forced into it. It's purely optional.

Will I join? Meh. I don't really sell a lot of stuff on here, so the classifieds boost options aren't for me. If something else comes along that results in a good value proposition (for me) then yeah, I will. At the moment, there's not a sufficient value proposition for me. If cashflow wasn't an issue at the moment, I'd join in a heartbeat.
