Some pics from the 1000 Miler from Jhb to CT in 2018. It is being held in August this year along with a 2000 Miler. Hopefully we are allowed out by then! This is a self-supported bikepacking event, which in my opinion, is well worth doing. It used to be held in June/July, thus the chilly temps. This is proper 'big sky' country.

Nice little road only used by hikers and cyclists.  Sometimes used by forestry vehicles

Bad Tölz, 20 km to go to home.  The river you see is the Isar river, which flows past our home town of Geretsried, flows through Munich, joins the Danube at Regensburg which then follows through Vienna and eventually into the black sea.

Nice ride out for some hills on the road bike in Saturday, then a few hours exploring some trails on Sunday on the MTB. Incredible how not having to deal with the peripherals (kids sports, horses, commuting etc) frees the mind up to enjoy cycling a bit more without feeling rushed. Counting my blessings every minute at the moment.
