Woke up at 5:30 this morning with the wind howling outside and decided f@ck it.

Got a message around 9am from a buddy asking if I already went out for a ride or still planning one as his keen to go riding.

Think this was karma telling me I need to do something before the funride world champ's.

Kobus wanted to go big or go home so we headed up to Stettyn Dam. The wind was absolutely horrible, we had a headwind for half the ride to the kloof and then halfway up the kloof the wind was back on full form from the front again.

Kobus conceded early on that he didn't think he was fit enough for the ride and ended up wheel sucking for about 60% of the ride. Eventually he asked me if I could call my wife to come pick us up with the bakkie as he was totally knackered and we still had 20km's to go.

Still a fun day out and even under the conditions I enjoyed it, especially having some company for the first time in a while. 762375561e661f27b32f8a29e165ae82.jpg04a352129107bf800b67640d2fbccbc4.jpg2e006802263ae17e837f35632b485f05.jpg10a62edf5523e9c465fb2aed6c59e2bc.jpg73ad57552d5f2151cecc4c395511fcb0.jpg495afb69043ca70ffdcad82d707136a9.jpgde06e686e552aba675adf0c8c6e5bc28.jpg0a5f812950e9c290be9d8d5bd7e226db.jpge8251f6bfebff5161087806819e04a3f.jpg

Had the privilege of riding with the Hout Bay Cycling Club guys yesterday, what a lekker bunch! Loads of chirps and they can ride, had me on the rivet but enjoyed myself.

Great job ManWithNoName is doing with them, thanks for inviting me

We rode to Simonstown & back over Redhill in the p!$$ing rain. By the time we got to Fishhoek the novelty had worn off. And then it became scary. I think it's the additional road noise from the wet tires that makes the cars seem more threatening.

Then it was in the bakkie and off to Stellies for a shuttle day. Erm. p!$$ing there to. I decided one wet ride a weekend is enough.

I rode Noordhoek, Simonstown, Cape Point, Scarborough, Kommetjie and back to the caravan park ... absolutely soaked the whole way!

Throat not so lekker today but hopefully get over it in a day or 2, leaving on Saturday morning ....636b03a42f3f0237a89e341ddbc18d8f.jpg

Purely for safety, our rule has been to ride mountain if it rains and stay off the roads. I also think that Cape drivers go instantly more stupid the moment it starts to rain. Also, for some reason I seem to puncture more often when riding road in the rain.

That's a good rule. We did a spinbike session on Sat morning and the sight of all the okes cruising up Chappies while we were in a superheated studio filled me with jealous rage so we had to ride.

Windguru said it was going to clear so we bet on that. Yes. My fiance got a puncture and a dude that rode past us said he'd never seen so many puncture before. I think the water dislodges the glass & thorns that are settled in the gaps in the tar which means more punctures.

Work. Met a friendly bus driver this afternoon, one that didn't try to kill me. Normally when I see that Orange Arrow coming for me, my spidey sense start evaluating escape routes. This guy gave me room, waved me into the traffic and we ended up having a chat. Never too old to be surprised.
