Dear trail builders, please remember as you repair, flatten, and make trails easier for the e-bike and gravel crew, thats there were those who supported and came and liked them the way they were. Also ok to add onto the trail to accomodate, not make them easier.

Just a thought, with love.

I watch videos on YouTube of trails overseas, get super amped to ride, but then I hit the local trails and I feel deflated.

Our trails are built for the local lowest common denominator with buggerall skills and even less desire to improve.

So those of us who have spent our time upskilling end up with maybe 2 viable trails, which get old real fast.

Complaining about it has fallen on deaf ears, so this year I've opted to rather not renew my membership any longer, as really what is the point.

Oh wait, I think I'm on the wrong thread. . .

And yet the Leat skills park is probably the least used part of the trails .... it is just possible that Maritz have done more laps at Leat than many adult club members.

When the flow trail next to Lombards Terra opened the paramedics were there constantly ....

Which all just prooves your point about the typical skill level ...

You should ride less Tygerberg trails.

Go ride tablemountain (not Tokai), Helderberg, Jonkers, Eselfontein, Cederberg to name a few.

This is how I feel when friends say they wanna go away for a weekend mtb trip. When I unpack my HT at the trail, then they like where is your dual sus. LOL.

Shredding the gnar is over rated anyway....

But we have lots of 'technical' trails with big features in the western cape. Lots.

You won't find them on the tygerberg network though.

I love riding not so gnar trails these days.... Black Rhino is just the right amount of kook and shred.

Red Phoenix in Jonkers, The Canaries and if you miss some of the massive features, Iron Monkey is rad.

I used to be all 'Plumber or death, Status Quo or lame..... Now I just want to ride my bike, smile, enjoy it and go home without leaving half my face behind.

We all go through different stages of playing bikes. Sometimes we are blinded by where we are in our trajectory.

I used to think this, but then I came to realise you have to make them fun again. Look for the gnarliest lines, huck everything in sight, hit all the A lines. I ride tokai, and dh0 is still technical enough to make the first part loose and kinda sketchy on a hardtail, dh1 has the drop etc. If you look at trails with a different perspective, you might have far more fun. A lot of the 'trails are now boring crew' are saying xc/enduro trails are too boring, but can't ride a black or double black diamond. As soon as I started hitting A lines and finding 'side hits' I had a lot more fun.

Happy riding!

whats wrong with Tokai?

Nothing, but if he's bored of Tygerberg, Tokai will be much of the same..other than the Broken Road/Donkey trail and the DH line that is.

And the gnarlier stuff is outside of Tokai.

So every other trail besides Snakes and Vasbyt?

interesting perspective and each to his own but to me Tokai and most of Jonkers is pretty much the same when it comes to skill level required except Jonkers trails are like 3 to 5 times the length in distance which puts Jonkers in a class of its own.

Tokai is just short and that can become a bore overtime.

I do qualify this statement as I havent ridden Status and the Plumber yet.
