Just a few minutes ago, with the thunder, lightning and extreme downpour in Claremont, I was VERY grateful not to be out there on a bike. It's not often I'm happy that I get forced to use the Landy to work, but today is one of those.

Got home in sloshy shoes

Hailstones eina on my bare arms - that was a first ❄️❄️❄️

Fortunately dry on my core with Gabba Gabba

Did Hermanus Trails today.  My first try of this route, and certainly NOT my last ...   :w00t:

Dropped the wife a Plaaskombuis, headed back to the start, paid, forms, yada yada ... and then the solo trip into the unknown started ....

"A Journey Of Note"

What can I say? The best way to spend your public holiday is on your bike. Super long ride of four hours. My friend had a very fast pace today. I could not keep with him at the climbing, he was just in the zone. Kudos to him for riding like a champ, I will need to work on my leg power...

Very grateful for the rain we had and you actually appreciate what it did to the track(s). The ground was sticky and the grip was there, except for some sections. The paddles of water were messy with now way around them put through.

First time down Cobra on an HT... Haha, it was s H a K y !

Would like to go with a dual or even an enduro/trail because we could only do some of the jumps. Really tested your line choice. Fun nevertheless.

After Hoogekraal the legs was already hurting. We did not struggle with breathing, but rather with power in the legs. We are planning to go ride Jonkershoek on Saturday. Let's see how's the legs tomorrow.

Tomorrow is rest and bike clean day.

Cool pics.

I take the hermanus trails are safe to ride solo again? Hows the signage?

This was my first time on this trail, though we often drive the Hemel and Aarde road.

Saw a number of other solo riders.

For a first time rider the signage was good.  Once or twice wondered about signage, but stuck to the track, and a few bends later I would find the next sign (where it mattered).  Only once took a wrong turn onto the quad track ... but saw the sign and got back onto the bike trail - rider error, signs were good.

Couple of spots were the sand has been washed away and your are riding over a lot of tree routes .... this will be a factor when taking the little one onto this trail.....  cant make up my mind about taking Maritz there, at this stage.  Those bumps may take the fun out of it, on a small bike with 20'' tires and no shocks ....  dont want him to get a bad experience now, but need to take him to the next level at some point ..... besluite besluite ....

How rough was the wind there on Sunday! I was going snail's pace down Neverending story because I was so flippen scared of being blown off the mountain.

Ja flippit. We decided to stay on the trails more towards the gate/ticket office. Was a bit more sheltered there.
